It's too hard for me to decide wich one looks best, but whichever it will be, it will become a symbol of Vilnius.

My vote - for Libeskind. Least favoured - Fuksas.

To my mind all three belong very much to "star-wars-impractical-show-off" type of projects (Also called - "Wow factor" buildings). To my mind all of them pushed too hard to the freaky side - putting up as priority No.1. the show-off and only then as a priority No.2 - the function of the building, and somewhere far behind No.3. - how the building sits in unique Vilnius environment (although may be they consider that this will be the new little small Sun around which the others will turn around?). All projects are really interesting and would turn attention for sure. But none is truly innovative, world class landmark building - although Libeskind's project comes closer to this to my mind.

You had to put up some Lithuanian architects as well - and it is quite possible that they would win. But, yes, sometimes it's nice to be part of world architecture showbusiness as well.

Couldn't agree more. My fave is Daniel Libeskind too. Fuksas and Hadid are typical "fuck context", anywhere-in-the-world buildings.

I agree with Gatis. Zaha Hadid and Massimiliano Fuksas projects are "typical world class architecture" (it means that it's getting to "not really world class"), they need some new ideas. While project by Daniel Libeskind is really impressive for my taste and I hope it'll win.
Though lets admit it, any of these projects would look impressive.

Yes, for sure - any would look impressive. Just - not always in positive way:

For example - this looks like a pure ignorance of the city:

Don't misunderstand me - this is very ambitious project and Vilnius got a lot at the moment when it was decided to go for it. But I just get an impression that some star architects - starchitects did not put this as a high priority for themselves. That's the bad side of starchitects - every city wants to get a "landmark" from them but - they are not superhumans creating timeless pieces of architecture in every single corner of planet. Good local architect with his deep knowledge of the city and at the same time - with wide world view - he very often can create something much better.

But Libeskind's project is great, I would love to see it built.

Again, I agree with you Gatis. That picture above says it all + my previous post on the matter with Hadid's proposal in PARIS looking more or less the same as her VILNIUS building. Typical branding and landmark architecture project.

Damn...those are some awesome proposals (why didn't we see something like that for the realdania building in CPH )...If had to chose a favorite the Fuksas proposal is the one I like the most (from these renderings).
