BERBER and ATBARA | 6 Cement Factories | $1.5billion | Complete

The time where Sudan was a net importer of cement is about to end.
6 new cement factories totalling cost about 1.5 billions dollar are about to start producing cement.

Minister of Industry Jalal Youssif EL Digher went to visit the 6 new cement factory in Berber and Atbara [Atabara is the first city in Sudan were a cement factory was established in the 1960s]who will enter
production this and next year.
Here are the list of the new 6 cement factory:

Ahkam cement factory:
Joint venture between Sudanese and Egyptian private sector.
182 millions dollars invested
4500 tonnes daily
The construction began in 2007, and the production of cement will begin in march 2009.

Sudan cement factory:
Joint venture between Sudanese and Emirates private sectors.
3500 tonnes daily
80% completed

Al Rajihi cement factory:
Owned by Cheick El Rajihi [Kuwaiti]
5200 tonnes daily
500 millions dollar invested
construction begin in march 2007 and production of cement begin in 2009
70% completed

Al Shimal cement factory
Sudan private sector
120 millions dollar invested
60% completed
Begin production in december 2008

Berber cement factory
198 millions dollars invested
4800 tonnes daily
70 % completed
Begin production in may 2009

Al Salam cement factory
375 millions dollars invested
2000 tonnes daily
Began producing in april 2008
192 workers and 300 is the goal.

Sudan market needs 500 000 tonnes yearly.

دخول عدد من المصانع الجديدة دائرة الانتاج بالبلاد

توقعت مصادر تحدثت للصحافة عن توالى انخفاض اسعارالاسمنت خلال الفترة المقبلة واكدت ان طن الاسمنت سوف يصل الى حوالى 450 جنيها وربطت ذلك بدخول انتاج عدد من المصانع والذى يتوقع فيه دخول المصنع السودانى للاسمنت دائرة الانتاج خلال ديسمبر العام الحالى لانتاج 500 طن فى اليوم بما يعادل 150 الف طن فى العام ويعتبر شراكة سودانية اماراتية ، و دخول مصنع اسمنت بربر للانتاج بطاقة انتاجية تبلغ 4800 طن فى اليوم بما يعادل مليون و440 الف طن فى العام ، ومصنع احكام للاسمنت الى دائرة الانتاج لانتاج 4500 طن فى اليوم بما يعادل مليون و350 الف طن فى العام ويعتبر المصنع شراكة سودانية مصرية يمثل الجانب السودانى صندوق المعاشات 49 % والمصرى مجموعة شركات اسيك 51 % ، اضافة الى دخول مصنع الشمال للاسمنت فى يناير من العام 2010 م بطاقة قصوى 4500 طن فى اليوم ما يعادل مليون و350 الف طن فى السنة وهو شراكة عراقية اماراتية .
وقالت مصادر بوزارة الصناعة ان اسعار السلعة شهدت استقرارا كبيرا فى الآونة الاخيرة وذلك عقب دخول مصنع السلام للاسمنت الذى ينتج 2 الف طن فى اليوم بما يعادل 600 الف طن فى السنة ، وقالت الوزارة ان الانتاج المحلى اصبح يحفظ التوازن فى السوق بدلا من المستورد .
وعددت وزارة الصناعة صناعة الاسمنت فى السودان وقالت ان بالبلاد مصنعان لانتاج الاسمنت البورتلندى مجموع طاقتهما الفعلية خلال الخمس سنوات السابقة كانت فى احسن حالاتها لتصل الى 350 الف طن فى السنة وزادت الانتاجية بدخول مصنع السلام للاسمنت الذى ينتج حوالى 2 الف طن فى اليوم ليصل انتاج البلاد الكلى الى 950 الف طن فى السنة، وهو انتاج متواضع مقارنة مع حجم الاستهلاك المتزايد عاما بعد عام ونسبة لحجم الاستهلاك المحلى والانتاج الوطنى اتاح الفرصة لاستيراد اسمنت لسد الفجوة ، واضافت ان اسمنت عطبرة خلال العام 2007م بلغ 21 الف طن واسمنت ربك بلغ فى ذات العام اكثر من 12 الف طن ، وبالمقارنة بين المستورد والوطنى خلال العام 2007 م اتضح ان حجم الاسمنت المستورد بلغ حوال 2 مليون طن اما الانتاج الوطنى لذات العام 35 الف طن و423 طن اسمنت الامر الذى يشير الى تزايد الاستهلاك المحلى للاسمنت الذى وصل الى حوالى 2 مليون و400 الف طن فى العام ويتضح كذلك ان الاستهلاك المحلى يتم تغطيته عبر الاستيراد بنسبة 85 % ومساهمة الوطنى فى الاستهلاك المحلى 15 % فقط السبب الذى يجعل ان السعر يتحكم فيه المستورد .

تشغيل تجريبي لأسمنت بربر منتصف الشهر الحالي

يبدأ التشغيل التجريبي لمصنع أسمنت بربر منتصف الشهر الجاري فيما سيبدأ التشغيل الفعلي في الربع الأول من العام الحالي بطاقة تبلغ 4800 طن في اليوم. وأكد الدكتور بابكر محمد حاج احمد معتمد محلية بربر خلال زيارته الميدانية للمصنع ووقوفه على الترتيبات الجارية لتشغيل المصنع أنه يمثل إضافة حقيقية للتنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية بالمحلية معلناً أن المحلية تذخر بكميات مقدرة من خام الاسمنت والرخام والذهب بجانب المعادن الأخرى. من جهته أشار المهندس فيصل التجاني حامد مدير المصنع إلى أن التكلفة الكلية للمصنع تبلغ حوالي 300 مليون دولار.

its good that these projects are producing their own electricity other wise they would deplete the national grid

Kitayabi, thanks for the update. I guess by now, Sudan is self sufficient in cement production due to these projects.
