First loss SUCKED! I was not pissed though, 'cause I had made the trip to Columbus. Great experience.

Here are a few pics (not mine) of the invasion:

The loss to DC was not surprising. The new Frenchie Laurent Robert did look promising.

So do, and did I. LOL, I can only imagine what the church goers thought of us!

For the LA Game, I think we stand a chance. They are pretty bad themselves. They have no depth (lol neither do we really), the only threats are Becks on free kicks and Landycakes diving in the box. I really hope to see how Laurent plays again. I really like him.

Gotta love the fans. I'm hoping to go to a home game this year if I can find some tickets. They need a few wins though to keep the momentum going.

Those pics were beautiful choco! Great to see TFC being the envy of every other MLS club... even though we suck, we sure have one hell of a crowd.

I hope the new places coming will add a much needed punch to the offense.

He's good, but he has a temper.

TFC acquires Guevara

2004 MLS MVP could play Sunday against Galaxy

TORONTO -- Toronto FC finally got its man.

Ending a lengthy process, Amado Guevara signed with the Major League Soccer club yesterday and will join the team in Carson, Calif., tomorrow ahead of its match against David Beckham's Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday.

Toronto obtained the 31-year-old midfielder from Chivas USA for undisclosed draft choices in 2009 and 2010.

The deal took time because it involved signing Guevara, who had been playing for Motagua in Honduras, and working out deals with Motagua and Chivas USA.

"It's a very good signing for the club," Toronto manager Mo Johnston said. "There was a lot involved. There was Chivas, who owned his [MLS rights], there was us, who were trying to acquire him. MLS was trying to sign him and Motagua owned him. So there were really four parties involved.

"It's always difficult to get good players, but at least it's done before the [league's April 15] transfer deadline."

Guevara, who was the MLS most valuable player in 2004 during his time with the old New York MetroStars (now Red Bulls), played his final game - at least this time - with Motagua last weekend.

"This trade was made in the best interests of our club," Chivas USA head coach Preki said. "We feel good about our group right now, and since the player in question did not fit into our plans, we made the best available deal for his rights."

Chivas USA obtained Guevara from New York before the 2007 season, but he played only four games and had a disagreement with Preki. Chivas USA tired to trade him - it appeared for a while last year that he would land in Toronto - but that didn't work out and eventually he returned to his former club, Motagua.

Johnston said Guevara never really turned down an offer to join Toronto last year.

"There were two or three different things that happened," Johnston said. "We were really struggling a little bit for depth and a playmaker. I went in for Amado and it never happened, and I still followed his progress and I always knew at one time he would try and come back. I kept on top of it."

Guevara and Johnston are being reunited. Johnston was a coach and, for a while, the head coach at New York when Guevara played there.

The signing of Guevara came a week after Toronto acquired another midfielder, French international Laurent Robert, who was signed last week and made his MLS debut in Saturday's 4-1 loss to D.C. United at RFK Stadium in Washington.

While Robert plays his best on the left wing, Johnston said Guevara can play numerous positions.

"Left, right, underneath the strikers, can play up top, he can play deep," he said. "He's a soccer player. ... Amado is a great fit for our fans because they love talented players. He rises to the occasions. He's a big-time player."

The manager said he has followed Guevara for the past 6½ months. "Since he's been with Motagua, he's been their best player," he said.

Johnston may not be not done making moves. He said he could yet make one more signing of a player who would see action on Sunday, although he would not name him.

The obvious choices would be midfielder Rohan Ricketts and defender Olivier Tebily, who have both been training with Toronto.

Ricketts has been with Toronto since last week and recently was released by Barnsley of the English League Championship. Tebily was released in January by English Premier League side Birmingham City.

I'm meh about Samuel. Kinda liked him but not really. Ricketts should be good, what's pissing me off is that I'm hearing reports of Andy Boyens leaving WHICH MAKES ME REALLY ANGRY and sad! The guy was decent and his optimism and personality was awesome!

Fucking Marco Reda in disguise (Marco Velez) is on the team and Boyens isn't! Makes me sick!

Toronto FC signs Ricketts, waives Samuel

Toronto FC was back at it Friday, signing English midfielder Rohan Ricketts to a deal, and waiving Trinidad forward Colin Samuel.

Terms of Ricketts's contract with the Major League Soccer club were not released.

The addition of Ricketts and the release of Samuel comes days after the club signed Honduran midfielder Amado Guevara, who won league MVP honours in 2004.

Ricketts, 25, joins Toronto after being released from his contract with his previous club, English outfit Barnsley. He has also spent time at several other big English clubs, including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Ricketts has been training with the Canadian club over the past two weeks.

"He's come in here and impressed the coaches, and by getting him we've instantly added more quality depth for our team," said Toronto general manager Mo Johnston. "He possesses a great ability to get by players, and will be another exciting player for our fans to watch."

Ricketts should be available to play for Toronto against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday, pending the completion of his international papers.

Samuel, 26, joined Toronto FC last June after playing for Scottish Premier League team Dundee.

The Trinidad forward failed to impress, though, as he managed just three goals in 19 games.

"We are sad to see Sammy go," said Johnston. "Obviously everyone knows what he brought to the team. We wish him nothing but the best of luck in his future career, and we thank him for contributing to Toronto FC."

Toronto is winless two games into the season and has scored one goal and given up six.
