COOL!!! I really liked what they are doing to the Ipoh Railway station!

Its one of my fav stations and a lil trivia here - Did ya know that the Hollywood epic, Anna And The King was also filmed at the station?

Yes...the plans for the Ipoh-Padang Besar stretch are finalised already......now awaiting for construction to start.

The reason why trains here can't go any faster because of our terrain. The railway tracks aren't straight enough to support anything at higher speed. Our railway tracks are kinda windy.....just like those in India and UK.

Sources says that if everything goes as planned.....the entire Malay Peninsular would be 'double-trackked' by 2008.

They are now bidding and finalising the planning for the Ipoh- Padang Besar stretch and the Seremban-Johor Bahru stretch.

yes...the Penang monorail should connect to the train station at Seberang Perai........Such a pain to get to the island at the train station!

I was hoping they have 3 phases for the Penang monorail.......one is the island monorail....secondly - the crossing over to mainland and third......the Butterworth monorail......

If they decide to built all in one shot lagi better!

Separating into 3 phases ( all 3 phases can also be built at one time mar! ) would streamline the monorail operations. For instance - the sea-crossing monorail could go faster at 90kmph for instance, faster than the ususal 50-60kmph regular speed.
