The one on the left is probably just older and hasn't been replaced because it wasn't in the budget (the one on the right presumably needing replacement early for some reason).

It seems in every jurisdiction the series type on route markers gets wider and wider just like our waistlines

I did a little research and it seems that the Utah sign on the left is the official style. I don't know how the right sign got produced.

With the SR 99 tunnel, are there going to be wide walkways on the side where vehicles wouldn't have clearance between the curving walls, or will there be false walls or something?

Or is it an optical illusion and the space is larger than it appears?

That's a nice pic of the tunnel, guess it's from the north side? It's still a disaster.

The Seattle SR 99 tunnel "will have two 11-foot travel lanes with an eight-foot safety shoulder and a two-foot shoulder in each direction that will ensure enough space for all vehicles and legal size trucks."

I couldn't find anything about the height.

Wow, 11 feet only, that's only 3 350 mm... make sure to fold your mirrors before entering

many city streets use 3 meter widths, and there are roads in europe using 2.8 meter widths (Mind you 2.8 meters wouldn't work in North America as many trucks are wider than that).

The limit is also very likely not to be 65mph in this tunnel so the lane width isn't really needed.

No, but if this info from WSDOT is up to date, it should start drilling again in Late March.

If you think 11 feet is narrow, the lanes on either side of the new moveable median barrier on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, CA are only 9 1/2 feet wide (all other lanes are 10 feet while the two curb lanes are 11 feet to accommodate trucks).

US 22 Veterans Memorial Bridge, Steubenville, OH

The Veterans Memorial Bridge (US 22) in Steubenville, Ohio. The suspension bridge in the background was demolished in 2012.

I crossed that old bridge. Forget what year that road trip was, 2010 maybe. Drove to Pittsburgh on a Friday after work (it was late June so it was daylight most of the way), then wandered up to Erie along back roads on Saturday.

That map appears to be missing the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway.

US Highway 6 east of Bowling Green, Ohio

Typical US Highway outside cities. One lane each way with only a yellow center stripe. At night, it's almost pitch black because there aren't any street lights on these roads that are far from the city.
