I've always wanted to visit the Channeled Scablands. Got to get up there sometime.

Documentary about the Scablands for anyone who is interested:

Thanks for posting the NOVA program. Yes, you'll have to visit the scablands yourself.

SH 99 / US 290 stack

There is new imagery along the western edge of Houston in Google Earth, dated November 22, 2015. It shows the new US 290 / SH 99 stack interchange.

An old documentary about the collapse of IN-512 during its original construction (since Google imagery shows a non-existing road there on satellite, I guess it has since being redone again)

It's Indiana Route 912. Originally there were no plans to replace the freeway, and it was demolished in 2012. But United Bridge Partners seems to think it is feasible as a toll road.

What are you guy's sentiments on the Trinity Tollway project in Dallas?

Personally I think it kind of sucks. It ruins the trinity greenbelt and it doesn't really go anywhere. I believe there is potential to improve the river bottom area as a park ringed with development.

I doubt if it will attract much traffic as a separate toll road. Perhaps it's better to add two or three tolled express lanes in each direction to the existing I-35E. They could feed into the express lanes on I-35E further north, and the currently under construction Midtown Express project.

Another problem of the Trinity Parkway would be flooding. I'm not sure how they wanted to address that problem in the original proposal.

Clicking where it says "copy" above gives you the picture in the VaDOT Flickr account, and tells you it's the Benjamin Harrison Memorial Bridge (which I've never heard of) on state routes 106 and 156 (of which I have no idea where they are). :-)

The US is one of the best places to drive. All Scenic Roads even in the most inhospitable places are in good conditions.
