The pics of Yosemite road are oldies I got in my hard drive and actually they were taken in early October. The drought was hitting hard on CA but this year things got a bit better.

Central Polk Parkway, Florida

Polk County has voted to form a new expressway authority that will construct the $ 1.5 billion 'Central Polk Parkway', a six-lane toll road that runs around Polk County (south of Orlando). The parkway will be 42 miles long. It was proposed first in 2008, as part of a possible toll road that would link southwest Florida with Orlando, but only the Polk County portion was deemed feasible as a toll road. However, planning at the Florida Department of Transportation was cancelled in December 2015 when it became clear the funding could not be found. So they will now try it as a toll road not dependent on state funding.

Polk greenlights authority for $1.5B toll road

Polk County commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to authorize formation of a local expressway authority in Central Florida.

The authority's formation is seen as a way to seek alternative funding to speed construction of the Central Polk Parkway, a proposed 50-mile, $1.5 billion toll road in northeast Polk County.

I always wanted to drive through Montana during it's R&P speed limit days from 1995-1999.

Must every major urban highway project over here turn into a money pit?

I'm not sure why states like Montana have speed limits on their rural highways except for being cash cows for their state police. The western side of the state is beautiful but the eastern half must be hell to drive through without caffeine.
