Heartland Expressway

Several states are planning the Heartland Expressway, a four-lane divided highway from Limon, Colorado to Rapid City, South Dakota. The new expressway is part of a larger project connecting Mexico with Canada through the United States. It will run between I-35/I-29 in the east and I-25 in the west. The largest city halfway is Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Aside from the parts in Texas to Raton, NM, I have mused about extending I-25 northwards from I-90 at Sheridan, WY to run along the Tongue River to I-94 in the Miles City, MT area, then follow along I-94 to about the Glendive, MT area where it would continue northward roughly along MT 16 to the Canadian border pointing towards Regina, SK. With the recent developments relating to a major oil field in far western North Dakota, rerouting it to run in that area instead of along MT 16 the whole way would be OK.

The rest? That territory in eastern Colorado and western Nebraska and South Dakota is incredibly remote and sparsely populated and except for a minor bypass here and there, any improvements beyond what is now there in those areas beyond my 'I-25' musings is simply not warranted.

Great, another porkbarrel project.

There is not even enough traffic to warrent, building a new expressway through those areas.

That highway doesn't have any funding in place and is still in the proposal stages. I don't see it being built any time soon

Mon-Fayette Expressway

The remaining link of the Mon-Fayette Expressway in Pennsylvania will open to traffic in July. It includes a large bridge across the Monongahela River.

US 281 / Loop 1604 interchange, San Antonio, TX

The US 281 and Loop 1604 in northern San Antonio, Texas cross eachother grade-separated, but all interchanging traffic has to use the traffic signals at the frontage roads. A new stack interchange is being constructed.

US 281 north of that interchange has also been converted to a "superstreet," where crossing traffic cannot continue straight across intersections with 281 without first turning right, making a u-turn at a designated ramp a ways down on 281, and then turning right again at the crossing street upon return. It is similar to a Michigan left, except that traffic cannot continue straight through.

TEXAS is just incredible when it comes to stack interchanges, right now it just light years ahead of the other 49 states, no state come even close to match the lone star state.

Even Austin have largest stack than most cities, and SA, DFW, Houston have probable the largest in the country

Construction work on SH 121 near DFW Airport.

That's how we recognize Texas.
