A few pics of the small East-Frisian city of Emden in north-western Germany

I took these pics this 4 days ago when I returned from a trip to the Frisian islands and had to wait two hours for my next train.

Emden has a population of about 52.000 and the Netherlands are aproximately 30 minutes away (by car).

What a fascinating city. Looks like a charming place to live and very pedestrian-friendly.

Thanks for sharing. Looks much better than I expected. Very charming indeed.

I was thinking that some of the terraces looked a bit English - so I guess that could be translated to "Dutch looking" too.

One thing I have noticed comparing your threads to Eastern Germany cities is that it seems that the utilization of brick falls the most east or south you go. Is this a fair statement? Why does brick seem to have been more integral to building designs in the NW (of Europe in general really) then the central and east?

^less/no mountains in the north (therefore harder to mine stones), maybe?

Anyway awesome pictures.
