Trains leave from the lower level of the transportation centre. The top that juts out is just a huge open space allowing natural light to filter through.

There are 2 sets of elevated tracks that have been pre-built into the upper floors, which I think was the original design for the airport rail link. Those have now been turned into a garden.

There was news a couple of weeks or days ago that was saying that ICN airport was going through with more expansion. A new terminal but not a new runway due to the fact that they have not reached the current runway capacity yet. Very cool looking building.

New terminal looks really great! Though I wish the architecture looked a bit more like the original terminal to keep things more uniform.

Air Incheon starts interlining with Polar Air Cargo

Korean start-up cargo carrier is now offering interline flights to Taipei, Hong Kong and US destinations including Houston.

Based at Incheon Airport, the all-cargo carrier has stated its main focus will be on the Russia Far East, along with routes to Japan, China and Mongolia.

The carrier currently operates scheduled flights to Haneda (HND) and Sakhalin (UUS) but also includes Ulan Bator and Qingdao on its route map.

But through an interline agreement with Polar Air Cargo (PO), joint services will now be available between Sakhalin and Taipei, Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Cincinnati, said the carrier.

"And most important for the oil and gas clients in Russia, the interline with Polar Air also includes Houston as origin for Sakhalin," said an announcement on the airline’s facebook page.

Additional destinations in the interlining agreement will follow shortly, said the carrier.

Air Incheon, which started its operations in March, also aims to serve smaller cities in China where Samsung and Apple assemblers increasingly base their factories, vice president Kim Gyu Hyeong told Bloomberg this week.

A second leased plane is due to operate alongside the airline’s current B737-400 from August, facilitating the China routes, he added.

Air Incheon aims to feed cargo to Korean Air’s long-haul flights from Incheon airport, said Kim.
