Thanks for the photos Finn. Don't get to see the progress up that way too often, so it's good to see what's happening. Should make for a nice little precinct when it's done.

Indeed, they've been full speed ahead since last August when excavations began.

The renders look pretty 'blah' to me. I reserve the right to comment when its near completion. The idea behind it is good, great layout and the area is screeming for another supermarket.

Mostly - I look forward to another 3 or 4 cranes going up. I'm thinking the view from Kingsford Smith Drive will be 'Crane mesh' in the next few years...

I've heard that Mirvac's next stage after Park Apartments will be to finish off the block surrounding the park with buildings along Skyring Tce. Resi, office & hotel. Don't know when this will kick off though.

Meanwhile, a land parcel that I think belongs to Mirvac has been put up for sale on corner of Skyring & Wyandra. Ads indicate it could be developed to 25 levels. Getting another developer into the precinct could speed up the overall development process?

Devine will start on their Teneriffe development soon & Metro have a sign up on the Longland St car park so I get the feeling there will constantly be some kind of big development (and associated cranes) underway in the precinct over the next 5 years at least.

Oh, plus the BoQ office requirement if the FKP or Watpac sites are selected, which will deliver a 15 storey office tower at the Skyring/Breakfast Ck Rd intersection.

Yeah that site at nearer to the back that just went on the market is Mirvacs.

I have noticed that the FKP site has been going awfully slow lately. It seems they did the piling then pretty much stopped. Although last weekend a crane did get put up.

it's never a good sign when a developer is pre-committing to their own project..!

Fin Review today said that BoQ are going into FKP's Gasworks building.

Also Boeing are on the scout. They could be in Waterloo, somewhere in Newstead, the Airport or on Albert Street.

The BOQ comment is correct. I think its an unbelievably poor decision from BOQ to move out of the city, particularly when the last move to Queen Street was based purely on wanting to give their staff optimum amenity and convenience of location.

Unless there is a thought the amenity will be optimum in Newstead with a supermarket, James Street markets, Emporium etc. etc. etc.

Personally I don't agree, however the extra green space would be nice.

I think it is too far from James Street for it to be an amenity.

It is a bit of a hike down to Emporium and further still for James Street! I guess it is close to Teneriffe...not that there's that much there. Maybe when

Is it just me, or does this sound like BoQ trying to keep up with the Joneses (Suncorp). Suncorp moves out of the CBD into South Bank, and BoQ, not wanting to be left in the CBD, needs somewhere kinda like Suncorp's South Bank locale – but Newstead is as close as they could get. Either that, or they're banking on it being just as good a location when the precinct is completed.

It's probably the desire for campus-sized floorplates with much cheaper rent than the CBD.

You are aware that in comparison to staffing costs including annual staff turn over office accommodation expenses are insubstantial?

That said it isnt like banks being out of the city isn't all ready common, if you look to Sydney / Melbourne.
