why are they taking so much time?

the private home of mittal is almost complete and the oberoi brothers are still tinkering away at their towers.

not bad. that puts imperials in the league of petronas. could've easily been the 4th tallest btw if twin towers WTC were still standing in NYC

The second tower has topped out. Only the crown is left to be placed.

Tardeo towers overcome legal hurdle

Quote:
MUMBAI: Decks have been cleared for the 60-storey troika of towers at Tardeo. With the Bombay high court not inclined to pass any orders for razing one of the towers , residents and the developer S D Corporation on Wednesday agreed to implement measures to stabilise Cumballa Hill. This brings to an end the seven-year-old legal battle waged by residents against the project.

A division bench of Justices D K Deshmukh and R S Mohite directed the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) to implement the measures suggested by the HC-appointed IIT committee for the stability of the hill. Any additional remedial measures that the residents have been demanding will be looked into by the chief engineer of the state government.

Residents of Usha Kiran Cooperative Housing Society and other buildings in the locality had moved court in 2002 against the project. The SRA project envisaged three 60-storey towers called the Imperial Towers. In lieu of it, the developer had to rehabilitate around 2,500 slum-dwellers who had encroached on the foot of the hill.

One of the major apprehensions of the residents of Carmichael Road and Altamount Road was that the hill's excavation would affect its stability. The IIT panel report suggested a slew of measures, including stabilising the hill with anchors. Other recommendations included controlling the water seepage and monitoring the slope of the hill. The residents had also demanded a retaining wall. A fresh plea filed last week sought the demolition of the second tower.

The judges on Wednesday made it clear that the court was not prepared to accept the petitioners' request. The judges also observed that residents who felt that their homes were at risk were free to sell their flats and go elsewhere. They asked the authorities to commence work on remedial measures for the hill's stability immediately after the monsoon and complete it in six months.
