Public Complex

By users Ilgar

Architect: Rovshan Guliyev

Project (block 1) - Objectives of the Project*

The designed public complex will be located on a high point, a little distance from the city center. The reason for selecting this location is that the given terrain is available but it is also a very beautiful location. Another advantage of this location is that the complex is easy accessible, both for business and for relaxation-entertainment purposes. The terrain is located next to the city’s new exterior ring road. This road is will form part of a network of roads that connect north and south Azerbaijan. This contributes to the value of this complex and it increases its importance. This multi-purposed complex will be one of the most beautiful and most modern complexes in Azerbaijan!

Project (block 2) : Progress, Methodologies and tools used for the Project*

The complex consists of two main parts:

1. A fifty-story office-hotel complex.

2. A dome-like trade and entertainment center.

For the convenience, the spacious offices and the hotel rooms are situated in one building. The first 25 levels are intended for offices, and the remaining 25 levels for the hotel. For the convenience of the people reaching the 50 levels there will be 6 passenger lifts, 2 staircases, 1 goods lift and 3 reserved lifts.

The trade and entertainment center consist of 3 levels: A 1st level, 2nd level and underground levels. The trade, health, entertainment and sporting centers as well as a two-level underground parking facility and the service departments will be located on the underground levels. This parking area is intended for office – hotel visitors, as well as hotel workers. For the people visiting the trade, health, entertainment and sporting complex 2 secure parking areas are situated around the complex.

On the first level the office and hotel service centers and also spacious trade offices are located as well as cafes and restaurants. For stress-relief people can walk in the winter garden and internal walking areas. On the second level where the conference halls, meetings rooms, a large cinema, cafes and restaurants are situated, illumination will be by natural light.

The exterior of the complex we will display a bionic form.

The basis of the complex will be from cast concrete. Considering, that the complex consists of 50 levels, a metallic design is utilized. In order to give the complex a rugged view metallic-space frames is utilized and for maintenance of the half-dome covering of the trade center wand construction is utilized. Glass, metal and travertine will be used for the exterior of the building.

Project (block 3) - Results *

The recently receive independence of Azerbaijan opened up new possibilities for the development of the country. On the one hand, the socio-political stability, on the other hand, a successful oil strategy has increased the attention of the foreign investors and businessmen on the country of Azerbaijan. This has contributed to the development of the building industry and architecture. Even tough there is a growing development, office-trade centers and complex building projects are still in a beginning stage. Centers like these will soon appear in Azerbaijan.

A flurry of development. One could expect a far more superior bid for the 2020 Olympics once all these developments and the Olympic Stadium are underway.

The Crescent project - May, 2010

As you can see in the photos below, the foundation pit for 5 skyscrapers on the coastal side is almost done and the piling works are due to start soon. At the same time the relevant fact is that the demolition of the sea port, which is next to both Port Baku project and the Crescent, has been also started

Baku Residential Complex

We completed design development for this crescent-shaped residential complex in the capital of Azerbaijan. We are providing structural engineering and Building Skin services to Heerim Architects and Planners for the complex. The project comprises two residential towers (46 stories and 37 stories) with a five-story podium and three levels below grade. The towers have a dual lateral structural system consisting of special reinforced concrete shear walls and a special reinforced concrete moment frame. Baku means “field wind,” and wind gusts in the city are particularly strong and constant. The design wind speed is 53 meters per second (50-year, three-second gust), similar to that of Florida. The 46-story tower is equipped with a 300-ton supplemental tuned sloshing damper at the top of the roof to mitigate building acceleration. Baku is also a heavy seismic zone and restrictive seismic system and detailing requirements had to be met. Construction is estimated to be complete in 2012.
