Why does the stadium still not have seats in some sections, or are they the cheap seats?

The areas with no seats in those photos are either; the press areas, which are currently being furnished, or areas being used for the opening ceremony.

Yeah, I'd be betting on them being for the opening ceremony

I've no idea, I can't see anything either. I think I've read (maybe someone can correct me if this is wrong) the ODA constructed two gas lines to give London 2012 options. One leads inside the stadium, the other to the north of the stadium. I doubt we'll see anything close to the Orbit with regard to the cauldron.

I'm wondering whether GYEvanEFR didn't look carefully at that picture and mistook the Orbit's observation platform for a new, cylindrical structure on the ground and on the opposite side of the canal / river???!!!

You might be right, it does look a bit like that if you look at it in the wrong way!

Where ever it is, has it been announced who is lighting it?

Ha!

Good for you for admitting it, fella!

And don't be too embarrassed.......the only reason I guessed your mistake correctly was that, when I was looking for the cauldron's base in that picture after you first mentioned it, my eyes went immediately to that circular shape. And it took me a second or two to realise that I was actually looking at the Orbit's observation platform.

So you're not alone!

Agreed!! Another opportunity missed! Only weeks to go and still no wrap?

James Bond (Daniel) is going to have something to do with it.

I am sure I have seen something on Flikr either by Wawd or Andy Wilkes that looked like a giant olympic torch.

Maybe it was part of the Orbit?

I will try and find the link later and post it...

Do you mean this?

http://insidelondon2012.blogspot.co....kea-tower.html

I saw it on my way from West Ham station to the Olympic Park a couple of weeks' back; it's actually very close to the Olympic Park, but I don't think I could see it from inside the Park itself.

The fact that it's a timber structure might also count against its potential use as a cauldron!

Not sure I approve of this. I'd love Fergie to do it, It'll be better if Dalgliesh handed it to him

And please, no more of Becks or any other z-list celebs. I love the man but I can't bear to see anymore of him, besides he's nothing special.

I'm not sure what I want from Danny Boyle, but it'd be really cool if lasers and fire retardant gel was used.
