Wish one of the Premeier league team moved in, shame to see that stadium get wasted after the Olympics and Paraolympics.

No, the farce regarding the future of the stadium is still ongoing.

tottenham took them to court again. stupid really as they're a) nothing like as locally based as west ham b) planned to demolish the stadium partly paid for by the public. If the legacy committee has any sense at all they'll ignore the appeals but the stadium definitely won't be wasted, it's just a case of how long it is to secure a tennant

Tottenham didn't take anyone to court. They asked for, and got, a judicial review. But that's not why the initial West Ham proposal to take over the Olympic stadium fell through. It fell through because the European Commission received an anonymous complaint (subsequently revealed to be from one of the stadium architects - and West Ham fan - Steve Lawrence) about the illegality of the deal. And it turned out that he was correct. So the OPLC, Boris, Newham, West Ham and everyone else who had conspired in the stitch up had no choice but to hurriedly backtrack and start the whole process again - only this time, do it right. |

The Olympic stadium may not be in full use again until three years after the Games, the head of London 2012 legacy planning said today.
Daniel Moylan, the new boss of the Olympic Park, said possible complications with converting the arena could mean the first football match there will be played in August 2015 — a year later than planned. Talks between legacy planners and potential occupants West Ham and Leyton Orient have focused on how to convert the roof, which in Olympic mode does not cover all spectators, and build seats across the athletics track. The 80,000-seat venue will be reduced to 60,000 capacity after the Games and the running track must remain to honour a pledge to create an athletics legacy. The stadium cost £500 million, which includes a £35 million public fund for conversion works after the Games. Mr Moylan said that if the August 2014 deadline were missed it would be a commercial decision for a club to decide whether it wanted to move in part way through that season. His stance may be seen as a signal to bidders that the London Legacy Development Corporation will not be held to ransom over the future of the stadium, whose post-Games use has been mired in controversy. Last year West Ham won the race to make Stratford its new home but the deal collapsed after a legal challenge from rival bidders Tottenham Hotspur. Mr Moylan, who this month took over as the chairman of the LLDC, said: “My aim is to get the best long-term user for the stadium, the user that makes best use of the awesome facilities and brings the greatest benefits to the people of east London. “In the long term that is what people will thank us for and we should be flexible and responsive to bidders’ requirements in order to achieve that.” So far West Ham, the University of East London, a sports university and a group wanting to stage F1 in the Park have made bids to use the stadium — the deadline is July 21. The LLDC wants to appoint a tenant in September. The former deputy leader of Kensington and Chelsea council was one of Mayor Boris Johnson’s first new appointments following his re-election and dismissal of previous chief executive Andy Altman, who has been linked with the stadium legacy impasse Since Mr Moylan’s appointment the prospect has been raised that the £280 million Olympic broadcast centre may have to be demolished if the two current bids to use it — a leisure and retail plan from Oxylane Group or a “UK Fashion hub” — failed to meet LLDC requirements for job creation. A first community event will be held in the Park on July 27 next year on the first anniversary of the Games opening ceremony but the area as a whole will not reopen until Easter 2014. |

from the OPLC's wiki page: Leyton Orient won a review of the decision, being told that they had an arguable case.[43] The review was scheduled to take place on 18 October 2011. Even if Tottenham had abandoned the review, due to being granted a new stadium, Orient were expected to continue, with its owner Barry Hearn calling the decision to grant a review "a great day for the little man".[ A week after the West Ham bid collapsed Orient submitted a bid to the football league maintaining their plans for a 25000 seat stadium |

this stadium has grown on me the more and more its gone on. simple, classy and functional with a bit of a twist. the olympic park also looks amazing! i lived in the area for a couple of years in leyton and its great to see so much regeneration happening to a part of london that was desperately in need of it!
