This may be a first for the franchise, but the Magic at 33-8, currently have the best record in the NBA.

it's expected, though.

they may, as a team kind of suck still, but their new diggs sure won't. Since those initial renderings from a year and a half ago, you should see the renderings for the garage they're building to the south of it. It connects with a skywalk over South St. and has a nice design; retention pond to the south of it bordering Anderson St. bridge.

This whole complex will be right up on I-4 (it already is; if you drive past it, it abuts the new Anderson St. exit bridge. I'm pretty excited about this thing. Its footprint is almost as big as the Citrus Bowl stadium to the west.

they have the 4th best record in the NBA, and are only 2 GB from the best record. They do not suck.

I know they don't suck... its just the franchise as a whole with past moves they've made that has tainted my view of them.

However, on a more positive note, the former Fan Attic will move into the new stadium and be open for business during non game days. I think this is a guaranteed formula for success.

Magic PG Nelson suffers torn right labrum...

From Fox Sports Updated: February 3, 2009, 2:58 PM EST

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson could miss the rest of the season for the Orlando Magic because of a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

An MRI exam revealed the injury Tuesday, the team announced.

Nelson will decide over the next week whether he will have surgery or attempt rehabilitation. If surgery is the option, his season is likely over. If he passes on the surgery, he'll likely miss several weeks.

"At some point in time, he's going to have to have surgery. That's a given. There's no ifs, ands or buts about it," Magic general manager Otis Smith said Tuesday.

Nelson left the Magic's 105-95 loss to the Mavericks on Monday night in the third quarter after he was fouled by Dallas center Erick Dampier and hit the floor. Nelson came up bent over and clutching his right shoulder before heading to the locker room in pain.

The injury leaves the Southeast division-leading Magic (36-11) with a major hole.

Orlando does not have a third point guard behind backup Anthony Johnson. The Magic likely will have to sign another point guard, or convert shooting guards J.J. Reddick and Courtney Lee.

Smith said he had "zero" regrets about not signing an extra point guard earlier. Now, he's hoping to fill the gap by signing a free agent.

"I don't think anything's off the table," Smith said. "We're actively pursuing (a deal), and have been since last night."

Nelson was having a career season, averaging 16.7 points and 5.4 assists per game. He was selected to his first All-Star Game and was to compete in the skills challenge Feb. 14 in Phoenix.

The Magic host the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night.

"It's a big blow for us," center Dwight Howard said after Monday night's loss. "I'm trying not to even think about it because he had been playing so well for us. It's a sad day for us all."

Nelson missed five games earlier this season with a right hip injury, and Orlando managed to go 4-1 behind Johnson.

A longer stretch against significantly better competition will provide a tougher test.

"We've done it before so we'll do whatever we have to do," Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said.

If the Magic can take any comfort in the loss, it's that they have time to regroup before the playoffs.

Orlando has a stranglehold on the Southeast division, beginning Tuesday with a nine-game lead over Atlanta. The Magic were three games behind Boston for the NBA's best record.

Still, Orlando's hopes for locking up home-court advantage in the East took a major hit.

"We don't change expectations at all," Lee said. "We can't say that we're losing because Jameer is out. We all have to step it up so that there's no drop off."

& now he needs surgery and will likely miss the rest of the season. Man, I've been so hyped up on the magic, it's going to be hard to watch them now that they're down such a key piece. Oh well, go magic...

Magic lost to Denver last night. they looked like a bunch of high school players out there w/o Jameer. 29 first half points. The "Tragic" are unfortunately living up to their legacy again. It's a slow death kind of like in the movie Alien, when that facehugger lays that egg down its victim's throat and then they wake up, its only a matter of time 'till that chestburster hatches and kills them... the point is... they're already dead and don't even know it.

Now, on the brighter side, maybe they just had a bad night is all...

yea, I attended last nights game against denver, had a date w/ me and it really killed the mood. I couldn't believe how horrible they were playing... they really did deserve the boos in the 2nd quarter. Missing passes, clanging open jumpers, no penetration & 0 defense... reminded me way too much of the magic of ~3 seasons ago. Hope it was just a bad game.

The thing about it too was that Riddick didn't look too happy when Van-Jeremy was scripting the plays to the starters in the 4th Q.

For Denver, Billups was actually coaching-up one of his teamates during a timeout and the Magic players were like in a daze... Jameer was there in suit and tie, but, damn... so many turnovers and missed free throws. That's what lost the game for them...

Well, they've won their last 2 games rather convicingly now that they acquired Rafer Alston to replace Nelson in exchange for Foyle, Cook, and their 1st round pick.

Keep in mind that Alston is locked up for next season as well.

The Heat game was great. Magic won 122-99 and had 7 players in double figures led by Howard with 32.

jameer coming back next season w/ alston as the backup will give us good depth at the PG, something we sorely lacked this season. If Alston can keep up this pace (he's averaging almost 10 assists in the past 2 games), we can make a good run in the playoffs.

Go magic

I'll start to take the Magic seriously when they prove they can beat Detroit on occasion.

Yes, but look at the Pistons. They were missing Alan Iverson and, for most of the game, Rasheed Wallace. The Magic could acquire Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul and the Pistons would still probably own them.

Yes, if the Magic run into the Pistons in the playoffs, it might as well be over.

Anyway, Magic have won 8 of their last 10 and are just half a game behind Boston for the two seed in the East.

I heard the other day that Jameer's replacement is doing rather well with assists et al... and is actually out-producing Jameer when he was at his height...
