Faridabad Projects Thread
Now that NCR has its own forum, I think it'll be best to break the NCR thread down to 5 new threads.
This thread will be used to track all the development and projects coming up in Faridabad. Link to previous thread |

Finally, work on Badarpur flyover to begin in Oct
Dipak Kumar Dash | TNN New Delhi: After years of being caught in red tape, the estimated Rs 340-crore Badarpur-Faridabad flyover may finally see the light of day. On Wednesday, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) awarded the contract to Hindustan Construction Company Limited for the 4.4-km elevated, signal-free corridor, which will be made on BOT basis. According to highly placed sources in NHAI, the construction work may commence this October and take about two years to complete the project. ''The concessionaire has got five months to complete the fund management for the project, but we are hopeful it will be done in the next three months. If there is no interference in this project, the flyover should ideally be operational by October 2010 when Delhi hosts the Commonwealth Games,'' an official said. Premium has been offered. The revenue collection some percentage. He added that the construction company has proposed to share the revenue collected in the form of toll tax. Earlier, doubts had been raised about the viability of the project. ''But seeing the response of bidders after the tender was floated, it's clear that this is a viable project. The concession agreement with the company will be signed in next one month and it will be given on concession for 20 years. It will charge toll from vehicles using the elevated corridor,'' the official said. As per estimates, the daily traffic volume on this stretch is about one lakh passenger car units (PCU) and approximately 68,000 PCUs are tollable. Only commuters taking elevated stretch will have to pay the toll tax, while those using the surface road are exempted. However, the surface road will be maintained by the concessionaire. The flyover will provide smooth and non-stop ride to motorists over five traffic junctions in Delhi and Faridabad. The flyover starts from near NTPC in Badarpur and terminates at Sector 37 in Faridabad. This covers five important traffic junctions including NTPC, Mehrauli, Jaitpur, Sarai Bypass and Sector 37 junction besides two other minor ones. ''There is provision for a twolane service road which will also have a cycle track. Three subways on this stretch will provide safe passage to pedestrians,'' said an official. There will be a full inter change signal at Mehrauli-Badarpur Road crossing with traffic moving in all directions getting a signal free movement. This is one of the major traffic bottlenecks on this stretch. Besides, the traffic coming on NH-2 (from Agra end), traffic coming from and heading to Sarai Bypass will also have access to the elevated corridor. NHAI officials said there will be two toll gates on this elevated corridor one at Delhi-Faridabad border and the other at Sector 37 in Faridabad. NHAI has had prepared the detail project report (DPR) in 2004, but it got delayed. Haryana government had given the clearance in 2006, but Delhi government cleared it only in January this year. Moreover, Delhi Urban Arts Commission (DUAC) okayed the project only in March

![]() yeah..its the bitter truth.... while its gud that malls n other commercial things are happening to the city... but there is HUGE difference overall.. biggest being the people itself... economic prosperity in gurgaon is much more,,,, contrary to the fact that ppl used to say that prosperity in faridabad is more..but its being ignored by government.... one can see subtle difference bw the gentry of the 2 cities.. ********** me thinks that the flyover may lead to chaos as vehicles will now have a 6 lane signal free flyover n interchange ,.... but then as soon as ull get down..the hioghway reduces to 4 lane.. n there are no plans 4 expansion of d highway as of now!!!! *********** there was a render of the flyover in HT sometime back... they named it JALEBI flyover

A conspiracy theory floating about the delay in widening NH-2 is that Jaypee group is using its political contacts to delay the project as it would affect the viability of the Taj Expressway which it is constructing

Besides, I don't think the number of lanes will suddenly drop. It'll probably be six laned for a couple of hundred meters after the flyover ends.
