But from what i hear is that these plans around the NCR region have failed due to lack of govt. funding on Public and civic amenities ...!!
Gurgaon being the best example of the failure to launch !!

Gurgaon police recommemnds new traffic masterplan
Gurgaon , May 23 The millennium city needs 20 more flyovers, 23 subways, 17 multilevel parking spots and 4 interchanges to avoid traffic congestion, Gurgaon police has recommended.
In a report titled&apos Gurgaon Traffic Master Plan&apos, submitted to Haryana Chief Secretary Dharam Vir Singh, the police have suggested changes in District Planning department for ensuring smooth flow of traffic. "The police has recommended that it should be made mandatory for HUDA, HSIIDC and private builders to have large multilevel parking spot in the townships floated by them in future," Gurgaon Police Commissioner S S Deswal said today. An NOC from police department should also be taken before approving a new township for security reasons, Deswal recommended. As Delhi- Gurgaon expressway is a fast moving stretch, four interchanges like that at AIIMS are needed on Shankar chowk, Iffco chowk, Signature chowk and Hero Honda chowk for free movement of vehicles at the intersection. The police has also recommended construction of flyovers and subways at Narsinghpur, IMT, Pachgaon Chowk and Bilaspur crossing on NH-8. They also suggested construction of 5 more subways in the city.

![]() The long wait of pedestrians who wish to go to the other side of the highway finally seems to have ended as a foot overbridge (FOB) near the Atlas chowk in Gurgaon is almost complete and is likely to be opened to the public in three or four days The Delhi-Jaipur national highway passes through Gurgaon and in view of the heavy traffic on this road, the Haryana government had requested the National Highways of Authority of India to make provision for FOBs for pedestrians. Then it was decided that the NHAI would make funds available for the FOBs, which would be constructed by the Public Works Department (B&R) of the Haryana government. Five FOBs across this highway were approved by the government, of which the construction of two is in the last phase. In a statement issued here today, Deputy Commissioner Deepti Umashankar said the FOB being constructed at the Atlas chowk could be opened to pedestrians in three or four days. Similarly, another FOB near the IFFCO chowk was in the final stage of construction and was likely to be completed next week. The construction cost of both these FOBs was around Rs 4.5 crore, she added. Umashankar said apart from these, three more FOBs would be constructed on the part of the national highway passing through Gurgaon district. The construction of an FOB near the Rajiv chowk had been started and would be completed in three or four months. The other two FOBs would be constructed near the Hero-Honda chowk and Haldiram, for which land was being acquired. The DC further stated that the option of both ramp and stairs would be available at these FOBs. Source: The Tribune Overbridge to be opened soon

The total software exports by Information Technology and IT-enabled services companies in Gurgaon has touched Rs 18,000 crore during 2007-08.
However, export figure of the last financial year is expected to be announced in the first week of June. In 2006-07, the software export from Gurgaon was Rs 15,000 crore while it was Rs 10,700 crore in 2005-06. "Gurgaon is fast emerging as an IT hub and there are about 400 IT and IT-Enabled services (ITES) companies operating in the district," Deputy Commissioner Deepti Umashankar said. Umashankar said the city has emerged as a preferred destination of big companies like HCL, Wipro, Genpact, TCS, Microsoft, Oracle. They have expanded their business and now have number of units in Gurgaon, she added. "The IT Industry in the city is growing at a much faster pace than the national average. In order to give boost to IT industry, a regional IT industry promotion office has been set up in Gurgaon," Deputy Commissioner Deepti Umashankar said. She said the Rs 681-crore Qutub Minar- Gurgaon Metro Corridor, which is likely to be completed by January 2010, will give boost to IT and ITES companies in Gurgaon. The length of this Metro Rail Link is 7.08 km and it will have five stations--Garden Estate, Sikenderpur, DT City Centre, IFFCO Chowk and Sushant Lok. This would further improve connectivity between National Capital Delhi and Gurgaon. Source: Samaylive.com IT And ITES Export From Gurgaon Touched Rs 18,000 cr in 07-08
