Ciel Square, FXFOWLE architects

Quote:
Ciel Square
Gurgaon, India
Client: Uppal Group
Completion: 2012

FXFOWLE is designing this nine-story commercial office building into three individual connected sections, with retail at the base and an extensive garden and roof canopy. The canopy spans the sections and beyond, providing additional shading for the building. The site, on NH-8 which is the main route south of New Delhi leading to Jaipur, is located between Gurgaon and Kasan. There is a 135 meter set back from the road, which leaves a sliver of land 12 meters wide, and 200 meters long on which to build. Extensive wind, sun, and humidity analysis of the area will ensure sustainable elements are maximized to create an efficient and pleasant work environment. In addition, a green roof and outdoor terraces with extensive shrubbery and trees are a major portion of the building design.

Many More Gurgaon Plans

Quote:
Many more Gurgaons planned: Hooda
Author: M K Tayal Date: 09 Jun 2008

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda says Sonipat, Sapla and Badali could be the next-gen hotspots after mall city Gurgaon

Gurgaon has come a long way, from a neglected small town to the hip and happening suburb of megapolis Delhi.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, in an exclusive interview, says the state needs more such success stories.

Excerpts:

MD: How does your government see the success of Gurgaon?

Hooda: See, it is not a one-day development. First multi-national companies, who were looking for alternate space as prices in Delhi were sky-rocketing, started investing in Gurgaon.

Slowly, construction activity started booming and builders began to invest in a big way, offering residential accommodation. The liberalisation of the economy and Gurgaon opening up to the world happened at the same time.

MD: What are infrastructure initiatives for the city?

Hooda: Gurgaon has excellent connectivity, which is being improved every day. We have now an expressway that has reduced the commuting time between Delhi and Gurgaon drastically.

Then, we have metro link coming up. And of course, the international airport is closest to Gurgaon.

MD: But what about water and electricity problems?

Hooda: The water problem occurred because the canal water was cut off.

But we were able to resolve that in no time. We got support from the army. We are now making sure that problems like these don't come up again.

MD: What about electricity?

Hooda: Yes, that is a problem. It is not only for Haryana but for the entire country. But I think in the next two years we will be able to meet the demand. And not only that we will have surplus power.

We have a 600 MW plant in Yamuna Nagar and 3,900 MW power generation capacity building in the next two-three years. We are sure that in two years, Gurgaon and the entire state will have no power problem.

MD: Recently, Gurgaon imposed property tax on the residents?

Hooda: There was no municipal body as such. The new body has imposed a tax and it is understandable.

MD: Do you plan to replicate Gurgaon model in Haryana?

Hooda: Oh yes. I have already taken steps to promote places like Sonipat, Sapla and Badli that are being developed on the Gurgaon pattern.

We of course are planning to put in lot of emphasis on places like Faridabad and Jhajjar. In the next few years these places would be like Gurgaon, perhaps even better.

CNG in Gurgaon from Monday

Quote:
On Monday, Gurgaon will become the first NCR town to start distributing CNG and relieve Delhi of some burden. Till now motorists have been flocking Delhi for years for filling their vehicle tanks. But the flip side is that the gas would cost more than the Rs 18.90 per kg in Delhi. The final rate has not been fixed as yet.

To start with, the CNG distribution company Haryana City Gas Services (HCGS) has decided to make CNG available at two stations — Sector 29 and 53. The regular supply of CNG that was to reach to Gurgaon through GAIL pipelines would not be available for a few more months.
