Your first post which I understood and agree to...congrats hehehe

Naah I am sure DLF & JayPee with the reputation they have and expertise will pull off a spectacular show given their past record and finishing abilities...

I don't know what makes you guys so excited of these projects. I used to visit these forums regularly, but the recent corruption exposes piss me off. I rather wish this DLF cyber city gets ruined and would love to cyber kick some rears on this forum who stand for those corrupt pigs.

Spectacular, Bollywood ishtyle!

All projects are practical, fast turn-around and eminently saleable.
dlf, Jaypee, Unitech and numerous other major builders are thankfully not ego but profit driven.
Taj Mahal, never mind.

I'm happy. With the original Taj in the bag, India don't care for more 'Taj Mahal's' or pie-in-the-sky type stuff. Since I like what I see already, plenty more of the same with amplification in size and scale is welcome. Thank you very much.

1'st, let's understand that dlf is the boss, and all credit goes to dlf. How they pulled off a metro, roped in the govt. and Jaypee to build the road etc.

dlf and Jaypee are both ex-army and defence ppl.'s Co.'s and Gurgaon has had a badlands reputation. For eg. notorious 'Khaap's'.

Better Next Time?
-----------------

Gurgaon is the Indian way of building a modern Indian city. A profit driven model. Gurgaon's profitability can fund other basic public infra. like metro, roads, water, electricity, garbage and sewage etc. Also schools, hospital's, colleges.

Basically, the early settlers, those who suffer the most to set up the place should be compensated well over time with their investment amplifying and infra. and well-being reiterared. A bit of the opposite happens in some 'quarter' type DDA colonies in Delhi.

dlf can now use the learning to scale up big and better as it is doing.

Inversely, when CIDCO set up Navi Mumbai back in the 80's;
there was a real fear of the whole thing failing. This was a govt. project. I believe pvt. Indian Co.'s can be world beaters' in public, govt., and specially media mgmt. building cities. If possible, considering the mould is set, dlf should Dubai-fy the up-coming New Gurgaon.

Hunooz Dubai Door Ast.
Naah, unless you government policies you cant have a good city. No way that a Gurgaon can be a good city owing to private sector. On the contrary you have to invest in the public commons i.e. the facilities everyone needs. A world-class gurgaon is not about swanky malls and multiplexes alone. Its a misnomer that a city can be good without a strong functioning state and good governance. HUDA should ensure that there are good pothole free roads, good streetlighting, at least 10-15,000 cops, at least 800-1,000 buses which run according to a timetable as well as bus stops, RMGL is extended across the city. Haryana government can give money to RMGL to extend it across the city. One big public park can also be developed, along with a good auditorium/s, better facilities at government hospitals, fire services and government schools. Government can make Gurgaon a great place to stay for ALL sections: poor, rich and middle class. One thing lacking as yet is higher education facilities. Shri ram group had promised to develop a college in Gurgaon like SRCC but if you have a good university like DU, than it will make a big difference.

Gurgaon came about exactly because of lack of urban or town planning by govt.
Otherwise, it would have died like a female child in Haryana, need I say more.

And this long laundry list of should this, should that : Wake-up, it's done.
Gurgaon is a first of many showcase piece for what the pvt. sector WAS capable of even 25 yrs. ago; now the pvt. boys can do a hell of a lot more.
Learning curve =25 yrs. = a whole generation.

Indian pvt. sector is all grown up now.

Gurgaon might have started despite the administration, but to sustain itself it desperately needs the administration to step up. Once you step out of the gated colonies of gurgaon you cannot but deal with the administrative mess that gurgaon is. Even the DLF huda road is happening because of huda not despite. Beyond the gated colony, the private developer is not going to make much progress without huda.

Not too many gr8 EU cities don't have pvt. enclaves with pvt. metro etc. I grew up EU side.

To give credit where credit is due, Gurgaon is dlf's jewel in the crown.
dlf is a publicly listed Co. dlf is ex-forces, defense and army type Co.
I don't think dlf is irresponsible like many of us on this thread
dlf's stock price is a marker.

dlf's directors will defend, retain and amplify it's jewel and USP - Gurgaon.
In some ways Gurgaon represents the practical, real estate future of India.
Congress support sure, but even without; it's not a silly Co.

dlf Kochi projects are so juicy ...

The projects and progress and photographs look great. But what about the water and sanitation issues that the media raises with regularity ? Are those being addressed with any degree of priority ?

It is an impressive city.

Well sh** has to go some where, in gurgaon it comes out of ground right next to luxury apt complexes.

Water, electricity, sanitation and above all crime and transport are all in very poor condition. Govt makes big promises but nothing much on the ground . Why? No votes from Gurgaon. So the focus is on Rohtak. IIM Gurgaon would have been a huge brand but not to be.

Why is this? I thought Gurgaon had a sizeable population...
It could be so beautiful if only little attention is given by Govt/municipality and residents.
