I think we should also consider the fact that: Some forts are living forts ( ahem* jaisalmer) and a lot of the cities are revolved around the forts. Indian cities are not well known like london or newyork. People must realise the main thing a city is formed around hence the photos are needed. Pictures or roads, roundabouts, gardens to me make up a city hence those pics are justified. I avoid posting pictures in which people are there because if I was in their position I would not like to see a photograph of myself on while surfing. I don't believe in posting images of cows, rubbish etc because I think most people coming to the indian cityscape sections are already aware of this. We tend to look at our cities in a negative aspects anyway so my aim is to depict the best of the cities. If it consoles you then I'll be happy if there is a "best of xxx" sign is put up in the thread title. Another thing is that most of us don't live in the city we post pics of and most pics on the net are by tourists so to me something is better than nothing.

p.s. To you, because of the india one pic a post thread, these monuments may seem normal but for most people it's their first time. Hence I think you should allow them to see those pictures. Coming to repeating photos well I try and not to but sometimes if I think the shot is really good then I do post it.

And no by roads I do not mean highways. Just because there aren't any buildings around them doesn't mean they're highways. They would have proper signs and road lights and not some decorated column! The only pic of a highway in the cityscape section I've posted is of pokran in which too the focus is the sand dune as they are a prominent identity of pokran.

I mean seriously, we have a special section for highways. And thost havelis in Bikaner are inside the Bikaner fort itself. They are not part of the city proper.

Anyways, I'm not a moderator so I can't order people to post this or that. It's just a suggestion from my part.

As you can see I have already mentioned the reason for that photo. And who told you those havelis are inside the the fort!? I cannot help if you have wrong information marathaman! Those are in the city proper!

This happens in Trivandrum thread also, but the thread title itself is 'Trivandrum: Life, Culture, History, Greenery & Cityscapes '‎. This thread was started in 2005 itself about the 'greenery' when already a thread for 'Cityscapes/Projects' was there. Later during the reorganisation, that thread got in to the Trivandrum Folder and the 'Greenery' thread became the main cityscapes thread.

Sometimes there could be overlap of pics, say in case of TVM, the resorts, backwaters, beaches, hills, reservoirs, etc are well within the suburbs, say within 30km radius. It is true for other Kerala cities/towns too. Say for example when pics of 'Ponmudi' need to be posted,there is no other right thread for it, wheras Ponmudi is identified as Trivandrum's own hill station, eventhough at a distance of about 50 km.

Okay I can understand with the umbrella/rain pictures but what exactly is the definition of cityscape? In my opinion basically an image which depicts the city. Now are gardens, hotels, roads, heritage structures or buildings in old style not part of the city?

Cityscapes---My definition

Roads-Carriageway,footpaths,buildings on either side
Congested areas-describes the old areas-Heritage spots....flyovers/underpasses etc etc

Skyline view-aerial view of the city
Transport terminals

In the Indian section you are supposed to use imageshack or any other image hosting site. I don't care what happens outside our section. Giving credit to the original photographer is a must - that's a pan SSC rule.

I have a question . Dis we ever had a Politics thread in our forums? If no , will anyone have an objection if I start a new one? One can often see a lot of political chit-chats in infra-related thread. it would be nice if there is a proper for all that .
