A man with great vision... spending more money on Songshan instead of Taoyuan. Songshan will indeed become a new hub of Asia. ps. This is not discussed often, but i think it's important and serious issue. How much money and time has been wasted by this decision? (construction and especially for commuters everyday) You do the math: "內湖線核定之初並沒有機場這一站,為了增設機場站,因此增加了1.9公里的長度和64.6億元的經費。.....根據統計,上下車者每天最不超過2000人次,但是卻因為增加這一段耗費通勤族每趟次4分鐘和3.2元的票價。 ....文湖線目前運量約為每日16萬人次..." http://www.nownews.com/2010/03/17/327-2580848.htm However, Ma was not the worst planner... he is just one of them... the fate of TW. |

"In other news, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications said it had extended the job application deadline for the position of a general manager at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Co from today to Friday next week.
Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Co is scheduled to be established in November and is key to the nation’s Airport Zone Project. So far, only one person has applied, the ministry said."

When the airport was being built, it was first named Taoyuan. However, back then Taiwan was still a one party state, like many Taiwan's streets and place names, it was later renamed as Zhongzhen/Chungcheng(CKS) to commemorate CKS.
It was used until DPP came in power in 2000 and started to talk about changing the name, since DPP sees CKS as a dictator. KMT of course refused since CKS brought them to Taiwan and was seen as great leader. However, KMT later suggested the name "Taiwan Taoyuan" to show that they "love Taiwan no less" because KMT was originally from Mainland China and seen as a pro-China party. Of course, DPP used the chance to change the name once for all... the happy ending for both parties. Taoyuan=>1979 CSK=>2006 Taiwan Taoyuan I prefer Taoyuan instead of Taiwan Taoyuan. Taoyuan was also the original name when it was first built. Nowadays, many Taiwanese are used to calling it Taoyuan instead of CC/CSK or even TW Taoyuan this redundant name. |
