Man...is it just me, or is almost everyone in Sofia driving a nice, new car?
![]() If I'm not mistaken, I saw two DB9's...one orange and one black...not to mention the Mercedes and BMW's everywhere that are brand spankin' new. Very nice pictures.

They should do something about this square. Maybe remove the parking lot and add some grass, trees.

Agree. I stayed in that hotel - a lot of pretty buildings around but very heavy traffic. The square would be much nicer without so many cars passing by or that parking lot ruining the view.

Well, there used to be a project that the whole "Tsar Osvoboditel" blvd. should go underground from Eagle's bridge - several hundred meters to right of this photo:
image hosted on flickr ![]() and go over ground again somewhere after the Catholic Cathedral (behind the ex-party house that is visible in the distance) in the middle of that photo: image hosted on flickr ![]() But since the new metro tunnels go under the boulevard i think it will never be done ... You are right though about the parking lot infront of Radisson Sas Hotel. The hotel must do an underground parking lot for their guests. They've got plenty of space behind the hotel building for this and let the square infront of the parliament be just a square. Over all the municipality must think of a strategy to make the city downtown free of cars some how... but unfotunately they aren't doing nothing about it in the recent years.

Good job on the photos, Ivan. Overall, Sofia is a midpoint between Viennese architectural tradition and Moscow's high energy spirit. Was pleasantly surprised by the pretty mountain scenery circling the town.
