Dresden is a city, not a state.

Are there plans to reconstruct the Hauptstrasse from the Augustus bridge north? Some of the worst examples of communist architecture is along this area.

It's sad that it's been destroyed, there is no point of killing the innocent people.

Unfortunately, sometimes there is. (To prevent even more killing.)

I just have to answer this...
The bombing of Dresden was a war crime, nothing else! No significant military was stationed there, but refugees. The city was filled to the brim with them. And the Allies knew this very well...

I'm sorry Dakir, I dont want to ruin you thread! It's the last thing I said

The Three Kings Church on the Hauptstrasse has been refurbished in contemporary design. At least the exterior is preserved fairly nicely. Are any plans in the making to restore the interior?

The bombing of Dresden didn't shorten the war by so much as a single day.

As long as Hitler lived under the ruins of his Chancellery the war went on - and would go on - no matter what.

In truth, a good argument can be made that nearly all of the strategic bombing from January of 1945 until the end served no purpose other than that of revenge.

It was the same strategy the Thommys used right from beginning (needless to say they first bombed German cities), the ruthless "moral bombing". They wanted to destroy and kill as many Germans as possible, as Churchill, one the major responsible men for this war, said, "as long as there is one Hun alive, there will be war".
