Oragadam -24.01.2010
Oragadam is a huge area linking 3 other large areas of Mahindra World City, Maraimalai Nagar and Sriperumbudur. The road under construction is one of the widest in TN. Factory construction may be an ongoing process for at least 10 years. It appears it may go up to Ennore port. Then TN will be providing to the investors the finest infrastructure facility.

Chennai Indian
It is the road connecting NH 45 near Singapperumalkovil with NH 4 at Siriperumbudur. Apparently the planners with their experience of car moving trucks near Hyundai factory, have made ample provision for Nissan and Daimler for parking of trucks as well.
May i thank you for your compliment. Last edited by Keeran; February 13th, 2010 at 11:10 AM. Reason: addition |

Darkprinz and Chennaidesi
Credible hearsay is that it will commence from SPK and eventually reach Ennore Port via SP. Construction has not started at SPK end but from where the industrial cluster is. The earthwork for road formation is extremely voluminous. As of now the riding surface completed is just a fragment on a few lanes, for short stretches only. The road is conceived large and will be delivered large. It is incredibly wide. A major portion of the road is likely to be 6 lanes with 2 additional lanes on either side as service roads. At frenetic speed, the critical sections can be completed in 1 year and the length of 27 km in 3 years.

ennore port is close to chennai city limits. irr itself reaches it. we are yet to see the northern alignment of orr after gnt but ennore port would be within orr. orr clearly avoids red hills lake. google map of this spk - sp road (sh 57) shows that it hits tiruvallur. all these areas are far away from chennai limits. we could think of it as a peripheral ring road.

New line to Sriperumbudur in Southern Rly's budget wishlist
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/c...ow/5605341.cms
CHENNAI: Starting Mumbai-bound trains from Egmore, funds for a new line to Sriperumbudur and approval for 25 projects figure prominently in the Southern Railway's wishlist for the budget, which will be presented in Parliament on Wednesday. The list also includes regularization of some special trains and more money for ongoing projects. Some of the sanctioned projects that require funds are — Dindigul-Pollachi broad gauge conversion, a new broad gauge line from Manamadurai to Virudhunagar and a new line from Madurai to Ernakulam via Kottayam. Southern Railway is expecting the ministry to allot funds for the Rs 1,000-crore line to Sriperumbudur, part of the survey for 25 new lines carried out across the state. It is also looking forward to more allocation for the Velachery-St Thomas Mount MRTS project. "We received Rs 1,223 crore last year. A large part of it has already been spent on ongoing projects, and the rest will run out in March," a senior railway official said. Southern Railway introduced six trains, extended three others and increased the frequency of a train from tri-weekly to six days. Works have started on infrastructure improvement projects announced in the last budget, including model railway stations. A new line from Nagore to Velankanni and gauge conversions between Vellore-Tiruvannamalai-Villupuram, Podanur-Coimbatore, Quilon-Punalur and Villupuram-Cuddalore-Sirkazhi-Mayiladuthurai will be completed by March. |

If SR takes up this project, it will get screwed up. It would be better if Metro is extended to Sriperumbudur.

Metro won't help with cargo transportation though..I think a freight rail line is the number one priority, followed by a new metro line as and when the new airport comes up in Sriperumbudur..

JK Tyre to invest Rs 1,600 cr in TN
http://www.business-standard.com/ind...-in-tn/386705/
The Tamil Nadu government has cleared JK Tyre’s proposal for setting up a new production facility, which would attract around Rs 1,600 crore investment, in the state. The facility was expected to generate around Rs 2,000 crore revenue in 2013-14, according to company officials. According to sources in the government, the state Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi cleared the proposal in a meeting on Monday. Company officials also confirmed the development. The facility is to come up at Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, where 100 acres will be allocated to JK Tyre. Speaking to Business Standard, AS Mehta, marketing – director, JK Tyre, said construction work would start immediately and production by the second half of 2011. “Phase I investment will be around Rs 800 crore,” he said. The plant will have an initial capacity of 2.5 million car tyre and 200,000 radial tyre for trucks and buses. The company will invest another Rs 750-800 crore in phase II to increase the capacity of car tyres to 5 million and for trucks and buses to 700,000. “The plant will predominately cater to the domestic market and this would bring revenues of around Rs 2,000 crore by 2013-14,” he said. “Chennai will be an important centre for our manufacturing and research and development,” said Mehta, adding the target customers would be automobile majors. The company caters to north India through its manufacturing facility at Gwalior. In the south, it has a facility at Karnataka, where it manufactures around 800,000 truck radial tyre. “We are in the process of increasing the capacity to 1 million with an investment of around Rs 150 crore,” added Mehta. |
