GAZIANTEP | Urban Renewal and Restorations
Ever since the Gaziantep Castle was built, the area around the castle was the center of social, commercial and cultural life of the city. Throughout the history, the area always stayed significant. However, in recent years the historical city was partly forgotten. Finally, Gaziantep Municipality decided to protect the historical significance of the city with strong support of European Union and UNESCO. The name of the project is called "Cultural Path" or "Kultur Yolu" in Turkish.
![]() The project hopes to renew and restore over 41 buildings including inns, baths, mosques, fountains and more. ![]() The roads, street lamps, and garbage cans will also be integrated into the historical face of the city. ![]() ![]() The list of the Buildings under Restoration: 1. Such developments make me happier than any new skyscraper and we finally realized the importance of historic centres. The main difference between today and 10 years ago is that municipalities care about history and set value on railsystems!

Nice developments but I didn't like the new situation of Naib Hamamı.. Automatic doors?? Too much modernised .. Others are pretty and some sort of compatible.

Very positive developments. Finally municipalities and the state are turning to the daily needs of citizens. The social and historical heritage is reclaimed, and perfformant public transportation is established.
It is a good trend and a sign of real development for turkish level of life. Yavaş yavaş , ama adi Türkyie ! ( Better to be a new tiger than an old grey wolf...) |
