In connection with the re-vitalization of this amazing project, I looked in the historical part of this thread, and not to tear an old wound up again, but very surprising reading, the way people reacted when Nightsky started it.
So in case that it should been forgotten : Thank you very much Nightsky, for making this thread, about this amazing project

Is a watchtower of some kind still part of the plans at the new cruise terminal in Nordhavnen? Would be a great place to view these towers from - with the city as a back drop. And if only they would take everyone by surprise and make it REALLY tall and spectacular...

Well, I have to admit, that I wasn't thinking much of the design at first (didn't understand the boxy and clumsy style), but it has been growing on me ever since. It isn't just a quick fix. There's more substance to it IMO.

I feel the same way. I wish they would drop the idea about the bridge, and just build two slim towers of different height. And if they really need wires to hold the bridge, then I really really wish, the would drop it.

I think the bridge has to be a part of the design because of "stationsnærhedsprincippet".

I like the bridge and don't mind the wires at all. I only wish there would be some more highrises to keep them company.

![]() Well, in my opinion they are very welcome to cut the bridge between the highrises. But I guess this is a discussion that should be in the relevant thread - when it is relevant

I disagree a lot on that matter. First of all, I do appreciate the "port cranes meeting" which I believe the architects quoted as a source of inspiration. Sorry if i am getting carried away but I could almost be tempted to see it as a symbol of the Øresund Region, or Copenhagen-Malmø Port, two cities/ports holding hands across the water, two sides united by a bridge. I also think the bridge lends the whole project a bit of character. Without this most identifiable feature of it, all I see are two okay but by international standards not particularly notable towers, rather bland and representing nothing. The bridge is what makes it iconic but wether it is a good icon is of course an other thing and totally subjective. Last but not least, I also like the fact the the bridge creates a new - spectacular - "feature", like the climb to the top of the corkscrew spirce of Church of Our Saviour or Your Ranibow in Aarhus. Crossing the bridge will be quite spectacular - especially when a ship is passing underneeth or about to moor at Langelinie "just outside the window". What makes it even more appealing is that it in the same time serves a function and creates a new itenary in the city. Right now, the Langelinie area is pretty boring imo and the walk out to the end of the peer remains a cul-de-sac with little to make it worth the effort. With the brdge and all the life generated by the new handsome buildings, a nice new roundtrip suddanly becomes possible, walking back along Marble Peer and perhaps catching the metro from Nordhavn, or venturing into Østerbro or (in a too distant future) out towards Nordhavn. That it incorporates the cycling aspect which has become one of Copenhagen's strongest brands (although I feel a bit ambivalent about it) is an extra plus imo. |

+100The bridge is a very important part of this project. Creating the handshake. The view in the height of 65 meters is going to be very spectacular, just see the aerial in the construction thread. Have mixed feeling about the cycling image of our city too. Don't think everything is as rosy as Wonderful Copenhagen would like everyone to believe. Good bike conditions shouldn't come in the way of better public transport. Guys, does anyone care to venture a guess for when they have found enough tenants to actually start this project? |
