Chinese working on the financial construction for the motorway

Quote:
11.3.2011 13:59:00 | Author/Source PressCut

In the past 15 days, Chinese companies Poly Group and China Communications Construction are negotiating with Chinese banks on the financing of construction of the motorway from Bar to Boljare. The negotiations are lead with the Chinese Development Bank, EXIM bank and another commercial bank.

The Chinese Embassy in Podgorica states that it was not informed about the project of construction of the Montenegrin motorway, but Ambassador Zhi Zhaolin stated that he was optimistic regarding the agreement of the Montenegrin Government and Chinese companies, pointing out that both countries support that project.

I really hope they can work it out with the Chinese. Right now European banks do not seem to be very eager to loan a lot of money for a financially risky project like a motorway in Montenegro. (Let's face it, this motorway will not get high traffic volumes, thus will not generate a lot of toll revenue but it costs the Grand Prix to build it).

We are waiting for deputy minister of transportation Feng Zhenglin to come back from vacation, they said he is the decision maker for the financing of this project.

That's what I call "driving on the edge".

Did you take your driving exam on these road? I wonder how much points they take for driving down into the gulf. I guess not many, it seems a likely mistake

Indeed.
Once you pass the test on this coastal road, you get to practice on roads such as this...

...one of the "milder" sections is shown here.

Thank you! I know now. Very though terrain and lovely landscape. There is the sothest fjord from Europe. If you want to avoid this very hard driving road you can use Vramc Tunnel from Tivat to Kotor.

this road is local road, not a highway. It connects few villages with Kotor.

The main issue in regards to this motorway project is due to the isolation from the 1990s (blame germany), politics and the last cause you pointed out.

Two bits of news from Montenegro, concerning two different motorways....

Quote:
The contractor of the motorway still unknown

2.5.2011 15:44:00 | Author/Source PressCut

The epilogue of the story about the motorway Bar-Boljare, which has lasted for four years, will be known on May 5. The decision on whether Chinese companies would participate in the construction will be announced after the authorised commission informs the Government of Montenegro about this.

It is not known whether Chinese companies delivered an offer within the provided deadline and in which form. According to unofficial information, Chinese partners offered two new models for the construction, which do not comply with the public-private partnership and a concession, while the Government of Montenegro does not want to accept anything except that.

B&H, Montenegro sign protocol about Adriatic-Ionian Motorway

2.5.2011 14:23:00 | Author/Source PressCut

Representatives of Montenegro and BH have agreed on contact points of the Adriatic-Ionian Motorway which will connect Italian Trieste and Kalamata in Greece.

A protocol concerning relevant documentation was signed in Trebinje on April 29. The Montenegrin contact point will be at Nudo and in BH it will be at Arandjelovo. In the length of 1,500km, this motorway will connect seven countries. The two sides agreed in Trebinje to align project dynamics, since its implementation is in advanced stage in Montenegro.

BH’s assistant transport minister Bajrambasic said that negotiations are also under way with Croatia to establish contact points with this country, but there are some problems with a physical plan on the Croatian side. BH is ready to connect this Motorway with Corridor Vc, he said.

How possible and feasible do you think this alignment is?

I have always thought that the question was CRO-Neum corridor-CRO-MN or only CRO-MN...

This is the most feasible route, because it passes through Trebinje and not the extremely difficult Kotor Bay area. The route via Nikšić requires far less grades, tunnels and bridges.
