Yes. There's a Four Seasons Hotel on the top 30 or so floors.

Only seven supertalls in one pic? I want more!

And even so the skyline doesn't look crowded or dense at all. Overplanned CBD + huge wasted areas of green nothingness = poor integration, low pedestran life, no proper city life at all

Since I've never seen street-level pics of the area I cannot judge its pedestrian life. I don't think those new CBDs are where people like to hang out and do their shopping anyway, they prefer older districts for that, at least if Shanghai is anything to go by.

You can find street-level pics of Zhujiang New Town CBD in my signature.

If you take Shanghai Lujiazui as an example make no mistake. Guangzhou CBD is on a whole different level when it comes to planning quality and streetlife integration. It is without a question the best CBD in China and will probably stay so until Shenzhen Qianhai will be completed.

The park in between all these towers looks very nice. I wouldn't have any problem walking through that.

Agreed. In my opinion, Guangzhou is a perfect balance - lots of green space (for a Chinese megalopolis, that is!), but lots of supertalls. I didn't use to like it so much, but looking at more pics recently, only Shanghai supersedes it, IMHO.

I like the city planning of Guanzhou. STreets and green may be a bit empty right now, but that will improve when more towers are completed and occupid.

Guangzhou is not bad on the planning side of things. The spaces are big enough to accommodate new skyscrapers (look in front of Leatop). All the plots in front of the Pinnacle have yet to be developed and have proposals on them. In the future the area will look lot denser. The worse you can do is put enough green space to make the area look sterile but not enough to fit future new buildings never realized in the original plan.

Guangzhou is usually regarded as one of the greenest cities in China with its trees and greenery so it doesn't look black and white like NYC, HK, or Shanghai. Plus, is crowded a positive? I've been to HK and the crowded streets and the narrow one-way streets and large crowds can make an extrovert claustrophobic. There are some hotspots in Zhujiang New Town as I have been there, but it is not limited to the street level, and on New Years' Eve, there must have been half a million people by the river.

Don't misunderstand me. I love Guangzhou, and concerning residential density, it is pure perfection. Example:

The only problem (huge problem) about Zhujiang Xincheng is the super wide open axis It looks very beautiful, but it's very impractical...

Seconded. I love the Guangzhou CBD. It's just so pleasant. I always visit the CBD whenever I get to go to Guangzhou.

You could say that about Central Park in New York.

What central axis? You mean that park and walkways in the middle? That is one of the main central outdoor activity locations in Guangzhou these days! Have you seen how many people spend their free time there? That's what makes the CBD a nice place for people and not just a cluster of office buildings.

I run a 10k last week in that axis and I feel great. Will share some pictures later.
