Messi thanks again for your update, that is a monster crane, the way it is positioned makes me think it is either to add the ballast weight or take the load on the crane whilst they remove the tempory supports

Thoughts???
Which one do you reckon?

Standing in the New South Bank?

Hi All, first post!
Just thought this link would interest you all. It has been mooted in previous posts as a desired option when watching football. It seems that the SPL has stole the initiative !!

http://sport.stv.tv/football/scottis...osts_also_read

If passed up north, does it give Mr.Morgan enough time to adjust the plans for the new South Bank? Due to the steep angle of the new terracing, I personally think it would be fantastic. It would also allow us to do variable attendances, depending on the category of the game, i.e. Against Wigan-everyone seated, When the Tesco's visit - the South Bank all standing !!

Imagine the atmosphere!!

Why will it be variable attendances?

According to the rail seat system in the link - you still have 1 person standing per seat space - so capacity the same. This will only work if you get increased capacity - i.e. 2 per seat.

Otherwise you pay same price as sitting

Hi Greco,

"Although there is provision in some German grounds for two fans to stand for each rail seat, owing to there being two steps between each seat, the SPL’s chief executive says the pilot scheme will see one supporter occupy each rail seat space"

As I suggested, if given the go ahead before the ground is broken we could adopt the two steps per tier as in some German stadia. As Mr.Morgan has been quoted, he would like a "kop" at Molineux.

Also a reduced standing admission price could be adopted.

Way to go yet before we get to trial it up here, as the police and local safety officials will have to ok each clubs plans to trial it. I expect teams like Dunfermline and St. Johnstone to trial it before the bigger teams in all honesty. If we try it, I imagine the enclosure's will be used, as those were the last areas converted to seating.

The clock was removed on 17 March 2011. We played Blackpool on 26 February 2011.

Went to the Norwich game on Tuesday. Sat back row of the corner right at the top of the stairs. Got really peed off when it started raining as loads of people started congregating at the top of the stairs under the upper tier overhang trying to keep dry meaning we couldnt see a flippin thing. Not a steward to be seen. Surely if you buy a ticket in an uncovered stand you have to expect to get wet, as I did, and you take it on the chin gracefully rather than fecking up everyone elses night??!

On the stand, the concourses are immense but as the stand fills it becomes irrelevant as people are queuing for their food and beer perpendicular to the bar and in no time at all the width of the concourse is blocked off by half a dozen queues meaning you cant bloody move. They need to install a better queuing system by next season. Food choice was awesome though even if the burgers were the same old crap thats been served for years.

I found traversing the stairs in the corner quite awkward especially when wet. Clearly the staircase is very steep but its also diagonal so for every step down you have to take one step across too. Just found it a bit tricky and would have felt safer with some kind of hand rail.

the only thing i wonder about the rail seat system for safe standing is that the rail in front of you might obstruct your view

I also had this thought, but after a bit of research I found the following,
http://www.safestandingroadshow.co.u...bstructed-view.

On this link you will see another link to wolves, where a mock up of the seating/standing arrangement was exhibited at the Molineux.

As for the obstructed view, it mentions about the "stature" of the spectator. Possibly a height guide or age limit could apply, similar to theme park rides?
If passed by the Health and Safety executive, they may apply a ruling on age/height restrictions. Also, kids could not naturally see the action in an all standing section.

This is the bit Jez will like!!!! http://www.bristolcityst.org.uk/pdf/...0-%20final.pdf

thanks for the info..they put together a very compelling argument for the return of safe standing using the rail seat system..though i do notice that in that myth section, they claim that fans views would not be obstructed by the rail whilst seated, yet their argument for this is that it would do,but percentage wise, its such a small amount of the total amount of fans attending games across a season that its not worth worrying about, and that those who are affected probably wouldnt complain

Sorry, my mistake, it was the Fulham game. I knew it was one of the 4 for £40 games but couldn't remember which one
