[QUOTE=gouldy;91296993]Yes, it does look rather a construction site, doesn't it? I haven't paid much attention to that area thus far; is the car park there finished? I have no idea. Maybe they are just leaving the fencing there for the purpose of advertising on, rather than putting a more permanent advertising structure there? Just a guess, of course.[/
It is used as a car park on match days- I think it is tarmaced.

Just a thought, but can't Wigan use this web cam to preempt the tactics Wolves are going to use in the game tomorrow? I know it's a lot of effort for such a thing, but with how the telly rants about lineups and such seems like it could be a bit of a giveaway.

The Molineux pitch isn't used for training unless it's an 'open' session for the kids to come and watch.

What's happening in the above picture then? Forgive me for being ignorant, I've never been to a football match.

I've never met any Norwegian toon fans - during my time in Newcastle or abroad, but I can imagine there would be a few with the old DFDS..
I studied for a year in Uppsala. First Saturday I was there, I went into town to watch the Wolves v Newcastle game in a bar. Bar was empty except for one Swedish couple - Wolves fans, watch every game. I was amazed.

Because Wolves have finished playing all their games at Molineux for the season, they are more relaxed about letting local matches be played on it. Sunday League cup finals etc.

Going to Wigan on the coach tomorrow, so I'll be able to grab a fair few photos in the morning before we leave. So, anyone got any specific requests of an area they want some snaps of? Should have plenty of time to have a good look round the whole site.

Was also thinking of making a banner;

Yellow background, black writing; "Wolves are for life, not just for the Premier League", Wolves head in the bottom right hand corner (instead of a dog) - reference to the "A dog is for life, not just for Christmas" campaign. Don't know if I can be bothered or whether I have even got the stuff to make it with, though

By the looks of the picture it's probably kids from wolves Saturday coaching sessions who have been given the chance as its the end of the season to play at molineux. Keeps them interested and sommat to brag about to their mates.

Guys, I got really badly upstaged

I made my banner, worked hard on it, held it up in the ground, no other banners around the Wolves end... I was thinking; Yes! Gonna be on tv with this... just before the end of the game they bring out a huge professionally printed banner that said exactly the same as mine! What are the chances!? Gutted

Got a bunch of photos anyway, will upload shortly.

Photies:

Remember that tiny little hole behind the stand before? Well, it's not a tiny little hole anymore:

An overview pano:

Just a little pano of Wigan's ground:

An alright little stadium actually, the stands are pretty damn steep and contained the atmosphere pretty well. A little bit bland, but it is, at least, not just a generic identikit bowl.

Just something of note, too; their mid-tier disabled areas, while really obvious when the stadium was empty (as pitcured) were almost unnoticeable when the stadium was full...

Saw a "wolves for life not just for premiership" pride of black country" banner just on the espn highlights.

Did you have a good time?

Well done Manchester city today, their loyal fans deserve it

Great photos thanks

Nice pics Gouldy.
The hole at the rear of the stand any ideas what it's for?
When Morgan and Moxey announced that they weren't going ahead with the Steve Bull stand they did say that some enabling work would still be done in preparation for when they were ready to move on the stand. Could this trench at the back of the North Bank have something to do with that.
Also heard that there were some problems at the end of the match today can you comment.

Yeah, stupid really. At the end, the Wigan fans invaded the pitch, which was fine - everyone was in a bit of a party mood. Once all the players were off the pitch though, the Wigan fans decided it might be sensible to turn their attention on to us and came over to the line of police in front of us and started singing "going down" and all that stuff. The banter between the fans had been pretty friendly all afternoon, but for whatever reason, maybe 5 or 6 Wolves fans took exception to this and took it upon themselves to also get on the pitch, taunting the 2000 or so Wigan fans back, a few of the Wigan fans then started pushing the police and trying to get to the few Wolves fans, but didn't manage to get through. Then, the flash point; one particularly fat Wolves fan simply charged at the Wigan fans, smashed throught the line of police and started just punching and kicking. Needless to say he'd disappeared in just a few seconds, amid a mass of Wigan fans who were kicking and stomping. At least 10 seconds of kicking and stamping passed before the stewards/police managed to get near the guy. It was pretty hideous to see in all fairness, my missus was almost crying, but I can't say that he wasn't to blame. He was in a horrible state and was carried away. It was threatening to flash off quite massively now at this point, with most of the Wolves fans now wanting to get on the pitch and get to the Wigan fans, but the police seemed to quell it.

Other than that, it was a class day, fans were awesome all day until that point. And yeah, the Man City game was ridiculous, just saw it on MoTD.

It looks really good from that position, especially in that light (Although my phone didn't quite capture just how nice the light made it look). And it has become clear that my earlier thoughts on the orange cladding (colour clash with the yellow-y bricks) were not at all on the money. Truth is, with a blue sky behind it, the stand looks really nice.

Judging by the shadows that was taken after you got back?

Externals will be finished in a few more weeks.

Are they ever going to finish the other spike light though?

Yeah, that image was from after we got back.

I'd forgotten all about that spike light to tell you the truth!
Probably because I haven't driven by it in the dark recently. I really hope when it's done that the only lights on the spikes are not just little ones on the top; I'm hoping they can make a proper feature of the spikes at night time, light them up from their base, like you'd see at a castle or something of that nature.

The orange cladding has to be temporary. It looks weathered already and cheaply and quickly put on. It all has a gap at the top of it and when the bricks are finished it will look far too deep into the stand!
