Possibly it's designed to be slightly bevelled, to give a softer looking finish? Just the same as the supporting 'cables' from the spike to the roof, that seem to be swooping, rather than poker straight?

With the next game at Molineux for weeks away, it gives them a real chance to push on now. Wouldn't be suprised if the upper tier is complete, or close to being complete structurally before I see it again.

Official Wolves on live cam:...In terms of Molineux project it's business as usual and work continues today. The news is not expected to impact on stand completion time.

Not sure but given that the cranes are back up and running i'd say it's likely. Given how far advanced we are in the steelwork I wouldn't be suprised if the steel had all been fabricated and Buckingham have negotiated with the administrators and appointed someone else to install. Only speculating though... but work does seem to be progressing again, certainly a lot more than Wed/Thurs of last week.

Wouldn't read into that comment. That comment was last Thursday when at that stage they wouldn't have known one way or the other. That was just Wolves' poor attempt at ending any speculation.

Ok, first post so hello everyone! Been reading this thread for a while, and took particular interest in the discussion surrounding the concrete blocks at the back of the lower tier. My own personal opinion - aesthetically I don't particularly like the look of them, but realise that it's best to reserve judgement until the stand is actually finished!!
Just a quick question in regards to the second tier - the two photos attached in the post that I'm replying to show this perfectly - what is the purpose of the part that is sectioned off towards the front of the tier? It looks similar in design to the disabled section at the front of the lower tier. |

They are, indeed, also disabled viewing platforms. The front wall of which I would think will be glass this time, rather than concrete - for visibility purposes, given the positioning of this vantage point in the relation to the near goal line and the steepness of the upper tier.
The white steel beams that run right through the back part of them, though, do seem to be quite poor. They look to be a terrible tripping hazard! Just something else that I noticed in the first of those two images. If you look at the disabled area at ground level, the one closest to the Steve Bull stand. Someone has hung a banner on the back wall of it, from the top of the wall, so they are obviously allowing fans to hang banners from there. I really hope Wolves actually encourage this, as even that one flag shows a good way to help break up those sheer concrete walls. If that whole wall was covered in similar flags, I really do think those walls would become a far more positive and endearing part of the stand. |

haha, yeah. There's plenty of space in front of them, though, in front of them for the actual disabled area itself. Otherwise the whole area would be pointless ![]() Although, I'm sort of thinking at the moment that some of these areas will be a bit pointless at the end of it. I'm sure there isn't THIS much demand for disabled viewing - certainly when you consider that there will be at least the same number of them in the Steve Bull stand... Sorry to keep beating this old horse, probably sounds like a broken record

I think the beams you mention are the top of the main supports! I think from them to the side of each disabled section will have normal seats on, as the access to the area is in the centre of each section for the disabled to enter and sit! Other theory's for the lower tier concrete eyesores is they are something to do with the temporary roof supports, "OR" maybe camera positions. |

Well the photo's show that both disabled sections seem to be almost full whereas there are quite a few empty seats in the other areas visible so maybe the demand is there.

This is an update of a post I made a few weeks ago.
We know that the lower left disabled platform has space for 9 wheelchairs and the lower right platform has space for 15 chairs. The upper left platform appears to be an identical size to the one in the lower tier so 9 again, as does the upper right platform (more or less), so 9. So in total there are 42 wheelchair spaces in the upper tier and lower tier platforms. The club stated in March that there will be 49 disabled spaces in the new stand and also that there will be disabled access platforms on all "three" levels. In conclusion there has to be at least 7 wheelchair spaces available in the hospitality level. |

Have to say, from watching the highlights on MOTD2 last night, I didn't think that the disabled areas at the front were all that much of an eyesore at all, and watching the progress of the build i'm consciously aware of them when seeing Molineux on the tele. They are certainly no worse than areas at the front of stands broken up at White Hart Lane and Old Trafford no less.

They aren't just tripping hazards. Wheelchairs won't be able to go over them...not much good for a disabled area. Be interesting to see how this pans out.
