I just saw the "Dubai Towers Istanbul" advertisement on CNN International two minutes ago.

(Advertisement of the project is regularly aired on CNN International and Euronews)

I will refer to what Asim said about "envy" in the "Mall Athens" post... You see this (which is under construction BTW, not just a rendering in a drawer or a website) and you wonder: What if this was built in another European city? Everybody would be talking about one of the best 10 towers in Europe, blah blah blah...

But I know, Istanbul is full of shanty neighbourhoods built with shacks and tin houses, what are we talking about... In fact some of them, like the above, are over 250m if you include the spires

What can I say...

Notice the greenary on the upper floors - I like the idea.

BTW, this one's not built by the Shareef (it's built by Istanbul-based Hattat Holdings, owner of HEMA Industries which builds tank turrets and APCs for the Turkish Army) but I'm sure if the Shareef saw it, he would Rock the Casbah

(The design was "slightly" inspired by one of his favourite tents)

Contrast and compare the greenery on the upper floors with the one intended for the top levels of the Liberty Tower to be built on the site of the ill-fated WTC in NY.
