Транспортни комуникации
Община Видин отстои на 200 км. от София, характеризира се с много добра достъпност и заема особено важно място в националната и европейска транспортна система. През общината преминават два европейски транспортни коридора: № 4 – Германия, Австрия, Чехия, Словакия, Унгария, Румъния /Калафат/, България /Видин/, Беломорието /Гърция, Турция/ и № 7 – по река Дунав. Предстои изграждането на Дунав мост 2 на километър 796. В района на град Видин на отстояние 2,5 км се намира Ферибот Видин-Калафат /Румъния/, обслужващ Европейския транспортен сухопътен коридор № 4. В близост до ферибота на около 3 км от град Видин се намира Свободна безмитна зона.
Пътна мрежа – с вътрешно и външно регионално значение е шосейната пътна мрежа, като по-важен път е Видин-Монтана-Враца-Ботевград-София, който е част от международен път Е 79.
Общата дължина на пътната мрежа в Община Видин е 218,3 км., в т.ч. по класове: І-ви клас–30,5 км, ІІ-ри клас–33 км, ІІІ-ти клас–60 км и ІV-ти клас–94,8 км.

Летища

На 6 км. от гр. Видин има изградено летище, с дължина на пистата 2 030 м. и ширина 40 м., закрито през 1998 г. поради нерентабилност, със запазени технически системи за управление на полети и възможности за възстановяване при необходимост.
Най-близкото летище – 60 км. Крайова /Румъния/ и военно-гражданско летище с.Габровница /България/. Разстояние от летище София – 200 км.

Пристанища

Пристанище Видин-Север се намира до Ферибота и Свободната безмитна зона, разстояние от град Видин – 2,5 км.
Товарно пристанище – Юг, южна промишлена зона на град Видин, с RO-RO и RO-LA терминали.

Митници

Митница “Речна гара” Видин – обслужва товари и пътници по втория Европейски транспортен коридор № 7 – река Дунав /Германия, Австрия, Унгария, Сърбия и Черна гора, България, Украйна/.
Митница “Брегово” /България/ - Сърбия и Черна гора /Неготин – Белград – Нови Сад – Суботица/ - Унгария /Сегед/, разстояние от град Видин – 30 км.
Митница “Връшка чука” /България/ - Сърбия и Черна гора /Зайчар, Белград/, Хърватско, Словения, Италия, Швейцария, разстояние от град Видин – 45 км.

ВиК
- водоснабдяване - Общината разполага с добре изградена водоснабдителна мрежа. Населените места в Община Видин се водоснабдяват от 35 водоизточника, посредством 15 водоснабдителни помпени станции с общ капацитет – 1 990 л/с. Всички населени места в общината са водоснабдени. За довеждане на водата до абонатите са изградени 433 км водопроводна мрежа, от която 150 км – външни водопроводи и 328 км – вътрешна водопроводна мрежа. На територията на общината са изградени 30 резервоара за питейна вода с общ застроен обем – 4 990 м3 . Поради факта, че водата за питейно-битови нужди се добива единствено от подземни водоизточници /каптажи, тръбни и шахтови кладенци/, не се налага пречистване на водата. Извършва се само обеззаразяване на водата с хлор – газ, като за целта са изградени 13 обеззаразителни пункта.

- канализация - oт населените места в Община Видин с изградена канализация е единствено гр.Видин. В града е изградена канализационната мрежа с дължина 59 км и 3 канализационни помпени станции с общ капацитет – 11 610 л/с. Отпадните води се заустяват в р. Дунав без предварително пречистване.

Застроеност на терена в населената част.

Застроеността на населените места варира от 70 до 94 %, като за Видин застроената площ е 72,75 %. Територията на общината не е засегната от свлачищни процеси.

Телефонизация

В общината са разкрити и действат около 28 000 стационарни телефонни поста. Територията на общината е покрита напълно с мобилна връзка.

Улично осветление

Степента на изграденост е около 80 %.
Общината /а също и областта/ е енергозависима от енергийната мрежа на страната. Няма действащи електроцентрали.

В последното изречение пише, че няма действащи електроцентрали, но имаме ТЕЦ, който изнася ток за Сърбия.

Description
The project concerns the construction of a combined road and rail bridge over the
Danube River between Vidin (Bulgaria) and Calafat (Romania). In the area of the
planned bridge the river is approximately 1300 metres wide. Depending on the final
design (it is a design-build project), the total length of the bridge and adjoining structures
will be up to 1440 metres in the case of the road, and up to 2480 metres in the case of
rail, with a main span of 180 metres.
The project is located at KM 796 on the Danube River on the route of priority trans-
European Transport Corridor IV. This Corridor is part of the backbone transport
infrastructure network linking South Eastern Europe and Turkey with Central Europe.
The creation of a new fixed link will represent a significant development of Corridor IV
and will provide an improved alternative to the trans-Yugoslav Corridor X for
movements between Central and South Eastern Europe. The Danube River itself is also
designated as a major trans-European Transport Corridor (No. VII).
A formal agreement for the construction of the new bridge at the proposed location was
drawn up between the Governments of Bulgaria and Romania on 5 June 2000 and was
subsequently ratified by the Parliaments of both countries. The project has also been
included in the priority list of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe.
The bridge is planned to have a capacity for 2 road lanes in each direction (3.75 m each)
and for one railway track. In addition, there will be a walkway for pedestrians and nonmotorised
traffic (2.5m) on one side and emergency walkway (0.75m) on the other.
The project consists of the following components:
– main bridge structure including approach viaducts (this is the core of the project and
represents almost 2/3 of the investment);
– adjoining infrastructure to link the bridge to existing road and rail networks on the
Bulgarian side of the River;
– cross-border facilities and rehabilitation of some existing infrastructure in Bulgaria
(e.g. railway freight station and passenger station).

Objectives
The main objective of the project is to provide a new fixed link over the River Danube on
priority corridor IV to replace the existing inadequate ferry service. This is expected to
facilitate the growth of international and regional traffic and trade between South Eastern
Europe and Turkey and Central Europe. The project will contribute to the development
of the regional transport system and will be the only new bridge over the Danube River
along the 430 Km border between Bulgaria and Romania.
The main objectives of the project can be summarised as follows:
– To further the integration of the Bulgarian road and rail networks with the pan-
European transport networks via the development of transport Corridor IV.
– To cater for the growth in road and rail traffic in Bulgaria and Romania and
facilitate trade and economic development through the improvement of conditions
for international traffic.
– To remove a specific bottleneck in the main network and improve traffic flows in
the direction of Romania and Central Europe.
– To restore a cross-border rail connection between Bulgaria and Romania.
– To further the introduction of EU standards in the transport sector of Bulgaria and
thus generally support the country during the pre-accession period.
– To help generate temporary and permanent employment and give a boost to the
local, regional and national economies.
Economic and social cost-benefit analysis
In the economic and financial analyses, the construction of the bridge and adjoining
infrastructure in both countries is compared with a reference scenario (continued ferry
service). The economic rate of return has been estimated in the central case at around
8.5% and the total benefit/cost ratio around 1.44. The estimated financial rate of return
on total investment costs is around 5.6% (FIRR/C).
The majority of the economic benefits are linked to the time savings for long distance
trucks and other road traffic, reduced rail operating costs and saved costs of ferry
operations. Job creation in both the construction and operational phases represent
additional benefits.
Environmental impact assessment
A Preliminary Environmental Impact Study (PEIS) was carried out as part of the
feasibility study on the project. The PEIS was initiated during autumn 2000 and finalised
in August 2001. Public consultations were held in Vidin and in Calafat. The results of the
study and consultations with the environmental authorities is documented in Decision
No. 9-3/2002 from the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water, which is
formulated as a permit to proceed to the next stage of design and preparation of a final
EIA report. Development consent was issued by Vidin municipality in March 2002.

The final EIA study, which covers the impact of the bridge options as well as adjoining
infrastructure on both the Bulgarian and Romanian sides of the river, was completed in
September 2004.
The Bulgarian Ministry of Environment will issue a statement on the final EIA report.
Following public hearings in Calafat, the Romanian Ministry of Water and
Environmental protection will issue an environment permit. The final Romanian water
management permit for the Romanian part of the river will be issued after submission of
the technical solution for the bridge foundations.
An Environmental Management Plan will be elaborated to ensure the implementation of
measures aimed at mitigating any adverse environmental effects of the project.

We all wait it,but it was delayed so much,so no one can be sure when it will be built.For town like Vidin it's very important project.I'm sceptic about the bridge-I don't think Vidin will revive just because of the bridge.What do you think about that?

Германски предприемач поиска летище Видин, съобщи областният управител Кръстьо Спасов. Преди неговата оферта в администрацията са приети други две предложения. Бизнесмените искат да възстановят летателната дейност на порта и да го приспособят за пътнически, транспортни, аварийни и медицински полети. Съдбата на летището ще реши Министерски съвет. Той трябва да вземе решение за даването му на концесия. Летището във Видин е поддържало редовна пътническа линия до София по 2 пъти на ден, но е закрито през 1999 г. Затова първо трябва да се възстанови като юридическо лице. Земята в летателното поле е върната на бившите й собственици. Няколко души от тях се заканват да искат баснословна цена за своите парчет

Every town should have an airport suitable for emergency flights! It's like this all over the world. We shouldn't make big news or subject for debates out of it. So the more the better. Ofcourse if two cities are no more than 20km apart, then it makes no sence, but otherwise... What's more, the goverment should take pains to provide the air forces with enough planes and helicopters for emergency operations in case of natural disaster, such as large fire, or floods, hopefuly next time we wont have to wait on russian and greek planes. And there should be enough of these machines in every bigger city...

Първият видински МОЛ ще заработи до края на 2007 - началото на 2008 в бившата сграда на "Памукотекс" в центъра на града, съобщи днес кметът на Видин д-р Иван Ценов.

Разгърнатата търговска площ на търговския център е 6 хил. кв. метра. В сградата ще има сутерен, партер и два етажа.

Около 60 ще бъдат търговските обекти, като освен тях в сградата ще има заведения за хранене, зони за отдих и детски кът. Ще има също ескалатори и панорамен асансьор, съобщи електронното издание Видин инфо.

Предвижда се откриването на офис, в който гражданите да извършват всякакви плащания- вода, телефон, наеми, електроенергия и др.

"Наемателите ще бъдат основно от София, включително и представители на чуждестранни компании, каквато е практиката с всички молове в България", обясни Милен Панталеев - представител на инвеститора- "Бългериън пропъртис" ЕООД.

Инвестицията надхвърля 6 млн. лева. Молът ще даде работа на около 200 души.

Проектът за изграждането на втори МОЛ във Видин - на мястото на бившия недостроен театър, също е в ход, съобщи днес д-р Ценов.

No, actually Vidin is a poor town and the local infrastructure is not good.I think for now 1 mall is enough.If there are more projects people in Vidin will start to talk about them.Now people in Vidin talk when the mall will open.It was supposed to be open a few months ago.

I think the Vidin-Kalafat bridge needs its thread, the project is VERY important not only for Vidin, not only for the NW region and the part of Romania but the whole Bulgaria and even Greece, as they also will have another route to the West. The bridge is very nice and I am eager it gets built

I can't find any info about the Billa-my father say they had some problems with underground water.As far as I know there must be Kaufland and that's it.
