A few Pics of Cochin city, thanks for various copyright holders of Flickr.

Cochin Cityscapes

The Icon of Kochi- Chinese Fishing Nets. The original Chinese Nets located in Fort Kochi, is more than 600 years, gifted by Chinese Emperor Kubalai Khan to Kochi Maharaja thro' visiting Chinese Merchants, as token of his friendship with Kochi Kingdom

Fort Kochi once had more than Original 100 nets, which many were dismantled due to wear and tear. Currently only less than 15 nets are in its original working state.

Another iconic structure is this Rainbow bridge, built by GCDA in 1992 as part of Marine Drive Walkway. The faster urbanization and nearby towers have reduced its sheen and beauty, still its one of the favourite hangouts of Kochi youths.

That is the ‘Revenue Tower’. Revenue Towers are constructed in almost all district Head Quarters to house the various Government department offices.

City police commissioner office shifted from its premises at High Court junction to the eleventh floor of the Revenue Tower in July 2010.

Ramada Resort Kochi

I just thought to put some few pics of one of the Kochi's most picturesque hotel resort- Ramada, overlooking Kochi Backwaters.

CC: Trip Advisor.com

The entire beauty of this hotel is that, there is an amazing maze of pools and water bodies, to recreate the backwaters of Kerala, which all joins upto the Grand Infinity Pool. All the suites/cottages overlook these mazes of pools.

Another Kochi- Unexplored

Kochi City is not just a city with buildings, malls and vechicles infested roads. There is another Kochi, the protected Rural areas lying opposite to the mainland as an Island. This is Kumbalangi Islands, India's first Eco-tourist Model Village, which is part of Kochi Urban Agglomeration, yet maintaining its rural character to the core

image hosted on flickr

CC: ~Beekeeper~

The Kerala Tourist Department, is marking Kumbalangi as a site for major Village Tourism by declaring it as Model Intregrated tourist Village, with major laws that limit several construction activities as well as systems that is not suitable for a rural eco-system

image hosted on flickr

CC: ~Beekeeper~

The village is located just 2 kms from City center and is an island protected with a maze of Mangrove forests. The island is famous for its unique Pokali Rice cultivation, an pure organic form of rice cultivation.

image hosted on flickr

CC: V I N U

Mangrove gives a natural cover-up to this island from the rising city orientation nearby. Today its a major tourist activity, canoeing thro' these mazes of mangroves

image hosted on flickr

CC: ~Beekeeper~

The Important tourist activity is to study local culture, merge with their lifestyle and ofcourse fishing. Fishing in these shrimps fields and get golden catch for a fresh grill is the most sought after activity here

Thanks
