Also, can you imagine living in the upper parts of this building, like how long it would take to ride up the escalator to your unit? lol. I'm guessing maybe a full 3 minutes :-D

You can see where the tower will be in this picture. However nothing has been done yet.

I am not a plant expert but I notice certain plants just do not grow good at certain heights!
In Plant Biology, factors such as respiration, transpiration, water diffusion, and many others are altered when a plant is moved from a lower altitude to a higher altitude (or vice-versa), due to the change in the atmospheric conditions (i.e. air-pressure, solar radiation, temperatures). This can cause physical & chemical changes in the plant itself.

In the case of skyscrapers, the atmospheric conditions may only change slightly (unnoticeable to an ordinary human being). Humans can adapt to the change very well, but not all plants can do the same.

I'd like to know if the site of One Dubai is closer to the ocean then Burj Dubai, and by how much it is closer? And how far is it to Nakheel Harbour Tower and the Pentominium?
If somebody could answer my questions I'd appreciate it.

Also I wanted to say that it's fascinating that they increased the height of this building , but Dubai doesn't seem to know any limits...
i really wonder if the financial crisis will have any influence on construction in Dubai, like it has in Moscow and many other cities in developing countries, but apparently there's no stop on keeping building more &higher towers in Dubai...

Just this project alone-with 3 towers over 500m (IMO the name "Three Dubai" would be more fitting though ) , is higher than almost anything else being U/C or even planned now outside of Dubai , and it's just one of many (according to SSP at least 6 towers over 500m U/C or planned) ...this city is just so fascinating, what we're seeing is probably the highest amount of construction the world has ever seen.

Also, this building would become the 2nd tallest building in Dubai after Nakheel Harbour Tower when finished, since its 30 m higher then Burj Dubai..or am i wrong?

I drew in an arrow, if I'm not terribly mistaken that's where the BD is.

aha...good to know!
thanks
So it looks like One Dubai will be about the same distance on the other side of SZR then Burj Dubai is...almost in a straight line from Burj Dubai, I'm sure that when it's finished It'll look very impressive when driving down the SZR and having these two huge towers in front of you on both sides of the road!
