Dear Mr. Green,
Do you have more information about the approved status?

They could have set on hold the approval.

We are hearing too much "on hold" in the past months. This is on hold, that is on hold, are the dark ages of skyscraper fans upon us.
At least BD shines ever more brightly.

Because there were plans to build in the first place.

Of course Banks stopping landing money everywhere (in the World) has nothing to do with it.

Programme manager stops work on Jumeira Gardens

US-based CH2M Hill is no longer working as the programme manager on the AED350bn ($95bn) Jumeira Gardens project for Dubai-based developer Meraas Development.

At the end of last year Meraas said that it was planning to review its masterplan in response to the changing economic climate (MEED 1:12:09).

The original designs for the Jumeira Gardens project covered two main areas: the redevelopment of land in the Satwa area between Sheikh Zayed road and Al-Wasl road; and from Al-Dhiyafa street to the new Creek extension in the Safa Park area and seven offshore islands.

The first phase covers an area of 820,000 square metres. It was to have six main blocks of high-rise, mid-rise and low-rise office, residential and retail buildings, as well as two hotels and a shopping area.

Landmark buildings planned as part of the project include 1 Dubai, which will be one of the tallest and largest buildings in the world if it is built, the Park Avenue tall tower, and Park Gate, which will be made up of a series of paired towers spanning a canal running through the development.

I usually couldn't care less about all these Dubai projects, but the designs on the first page look absolutely fantastic. *drools*

Pity they seem to have come rather too late to the party...

WOW!! Looking at the renders on the AS+GG Architecture website, I am loving this tower more and more.
This one would be really tricky to make out of LEGO.

correct stephan . malec, you're a bit too pessimistic....only because a lots of projects are on hold because of the crisis it doesn't mean they're cancelled or never build
