Dubai's skyline would be #1 in the world if all of it's skyscrapers were in a single, dense cluster. But right now they are all scattered in different places and the clusters aren't dense at all and too organized so the skyline isn't very impressive although there are lots of supertalls there.

In a newspaper in the Netherlands called 'the technical newspaper' an article is written about a new order for 'Van Oord' to create an island 'Pearl Jumeirah' for Meraas. Is this the island part of this development?

The order is €130.000.000,- and (it was asked but) they didn't confirm it as a part of Jumeirah Gardens.

Btw, later on in the article they say that in Jumeirah Gardens the so called 2.4km Dubai City Tower will be build...

What is the cost of this monster? I assume it's over $30 billion.

What a waste of money imo
I don't really think, that is necessary to build taller structures than 300-500m
Of course it's a good promotion of this country(ies), but it sometimes looks awful

Maybe I said it incorrectly, Silent Strike
I'm not against high structures, but nowadays it's too early to build structures higher than 500m, because not so many exist now, and imo it makes a bad composition with other part of cities etc.
I'd rather see four 300m bulidings, than one 600m

We live in rapidly changing times and it's shown no sign of slowing down. With the rise and boom of China/India, buildings of this calibre will be sometimes be chosen over a cluster of 300m, just look back 4 years ago when Taipei 101 was the tallest building, now we have several dozen towers (being planned that is) which will exceed that height, so it's no rarity. It does make more sense to build smaller supertalls but it's down to the vision and the of the planners and the ruling power.

@Myster E- I think that in the future skyscrapers will be replaced by mega-cities (maybe not as tremendous as X-Seed4000 ), maybe like Sky-City 1000, but it requires huge amount of cash
But it's only my point of view

I really wouldn't worry about something like this getting built anytime soon. This was conceived in a time when everyone was believing their own bullshit.

Am I the only one who thinks it looks lame? Just seems like something out of a lame and uncreative scifi film or drawing.
