Czech (Sokol?) club in London has a restaurant.

First one has also opened in Melbourne so the Czech cultural imperium is spreading in Australia.

Secret of success is plenty of delicious food on full plate = good value for money compared to nouvelle cuisine dog-turd in middle of huge empty plate of sauce. Like visiting baba on the weekend. Also svickova the only 100% successful guaranteed food you can get into kids outside McDonalds. They eat it like ice cream!

Perhaps 1+1=3 is actually Vaclav Klaus?

Czech Scouts give away small tree plants in celebration of Earth Day

In celebration of Earth Day, the Czech Scout Association handed out small tree plants at several metro stops in Prague on Thursday. People can take the trees and plant them at a location of their choice, making their city greener. Participants of the project “Growing Up Among Trees” can also send in photographs of the tree they planted, which will be collected and published on the scout association’s website. Jan Žáček is a scout member and was at Prague’s Náměstí Míru event, where some of the 2000 trees were handed out.

Liberec magistrate will only have to clean some roads from minor landslides or repair those damaged.. work for year or two for TSML :|

Chrastava seems to be damaged a lot, Friedland, Raspenava or Hradek n. Nisou probably not much less. Most of the bridges and some roads and rails are gone.. :eek:hno: Also towns on Ploucnice and Kamenice rivers were badly damaged, together with numerous villages..

worst situation was in Raspenava, Bílý Kostel and unfortunetaly tradicionaly Višňová, also many towns and villages around Česká Lípa was flooded: Jablonné v Podještědí, Mimoň, Zákupy, Vlčí Důl, Zahrádky even Česká Lípa itself (city center escaped flood closely)...

More flooded villages was (are) on lower Ploučnice, elsewhere in Ústí region and also in southern bohemia. Total number of flooded villages and towns will be around 600-700 (my guess)....

Liberec and Jablonec were saved by system of river dams... (v.n. Josefův důl did the most), level of our "lake" here in Liberec raised for 60 cm over night...

Well, Liberec suffered only minor issues, such as streets slightly flooded due to insufficient drainage; the most serious damage here is one undermined road far on the town's outskirts...

The most affected places are north of the Lusatian/Jizera mountains, since the low turned over the region, came from the north and "got stuck". Liberec and Jablonec are in the south, where the rain was less heavy. The Polish region is probably the most destroyed part, but IMHO mainly because of the badly maintained infrastructure.

in Liberec rained over 130mm, it is not few... and Nisa passes trough Liberec, and Nisa flooded some villages too (Bílý Kostel, Chrastava, Hrádek n.n.), Harcovský river was also on high level... Liberec is protected, but just one meter and Liberec was flooded too... it was bad, very bad, and now on weekend should rain again...

i know... on the north it was worse, but it does not mean, than we on south was allright... stráž nad nisou and kateřinky was flooded, that is Liberec outskirts (stráž was part of Liberec several years ago)...
