Zagreb was originally twin town, developed on one hill as Kaptol - dominantly church town of Zagreb bishop and his kanoniks, with Cathedral est. in 11.ct...

...and Gradec, 13.ct Royal town developed on a higher hill next to Kaptol.
Gradec was town of merchants and artisans, with strong colony of Florentines.

Small historical St.Mark's square is today the seat of Croatian government in the 18 ct building on the western side of the square , build for Ban's of Croatia and Slavonia and Croatia's government in mid 18.ct.

yes, it should, but only after renovation of the facades, and other related stuff. stupid socialist system screwed everything, and now some parts of zagreb look like a dump.
at this time, i don't like how our capital is looking, but it sure has a lot of potential to become a tourist destination.
it's strange how zagreb is the richest city in the country, and it looks horrible comparing to other cities.
