Which private school are the kids from with the purple blazers that strole around the city like they own it?
Lol i dont mean to be mean but they truly look gay. Those pics were heaps nice, i hardly ever go into the inner suburbs of the city. I usually strole around the north-eastern burbs or the city itself. ps: give us a "cruise" of smithfield or Daveron Park. They have such tranquile and beautiful suburbs with green shuberry hanging from the attic. |

very Melbournish indeed, looks like Adelaide is Melbourne's little sister.
you can group Gold Coast/Sydney/Brisbane/Auckland, Cairns/Townsville, Hobart/christchurch/Dunedin/Launceston, but Adelaide/Melbourne are very alike to each other Perth stands alone |

![]() This is a great idea, putting new apartment blocks next to commission flats. Though it would be good for the HT units to be spruced up a bit. but its all good

thanks for your comments guys
this is a bit of a change from the previous tours, its time to bring out the mercedes and champagne. Adelaide has hundreds of old stone mansions all through suburbs such as Gilberton, North Adelaide, College Park, Medindie, Fitzroy and Unley Park, which are home to the 'Adelaide establishment' which is basically a large number of rich and pompous familes who think they rule Adelaide. They also speak very proper (eg Alexander Downer). Not sure why there were so many wealthy families in the 19th century, we had no gold rush in SA, so I dont know where they made their fortunes from. Anyway, here is Gilberton situated in the inner northeast, parts of this suburb look like the cotswolds in England image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() thats all |

Amazing homes. Regarding the "rich" families of the 19th century, id say they brought the wealth with them from Europe. Don't forget that Adelaide was the only truly free-settled colony in Australia and therefore it must have been an attractive colony to migrate to for wealthy English statesmen and the like.
