[Hungary] Commie Blocks‎

One of us had complained about the lack of commieblock modernization efforts in Budapest. An important downtown commie neighborhood seems to have made one of the first steps. It's the Josephtown commie neighborhood.

The first scaffolds. It's only a portion of the whole area of blocks. I hope the rest will come soon too.

Sorry for the terrible quality. The colors look nicer in reality, my cellphone suxxx.

Old and new. Riverside apartments on the right. What's the difference?

Some pictures are dark because of the car's windows... Sorry!

Szekesfehérvár and Szeged won funds for renovation of 13000 and 8000 flats as part of a 2 year programme started on 2007.01.01. The "pioneer" of commie-block-reconstruction, Kaposvár isn't far behind, with its 5000 flats. But Kaposvár's programme encloses not only the modernization of the building itself, but its surroundings aswell.

Few photos from the city of Szeged:

2, Slovenia wants to build that new Pyramid, because Poland has already got the Great Wall? Central Europe is redefining the 7 wonders of the Ancient World, what's going to be next? The Colossus of Rhodes/Neum in Croatia? The temple/statue of Gyurcsány in Budapest, after The Statue/Temple of Zeus at Olympia?
3, China built the Great Wall due to defensive reasons... Who is Poland defending Europe from...?

25 floors and 84 meters (275,6 ft) high
250 apartments

I couldn't really find good photos, so if anyone has, please post them.

Its not as high as the Ryugyong Hotel [330 m (1,083 ft)] in Pyongyang, North Korea, but still a perfect memento of an insaine system.
