Spokane WA! What a View!!

Hello, I was lucky enough to have some wonderful people give me access to the top helicopter landing pad area of a local hospital to show Spokane from an angle only the lucky have seen. Now I am sharing those with you.

These were taken the day before the bloomsday run. There was 43,300 runners. Its hard to say how many people will fill the downtown area but I chose not to go down there and do my yard work instead.

Thanks Jeff for letting me have this opportunity! You and Sacred Heart Medical Center may use these photos in any way you want too. I hope you register on this site sometime and leave me a comment. Share these with all your fine staff. Night Shots a possibility?

Thank you Phil for taking me up there. Your people are the very best!

Enough with the typing. Lets see some pictures.

Down Town (Obviously)

Just a few for ya! Hope you liked!

There is a good brewery downtown. Forgot the name of it. From what I've heard Spokane is very conservative and anti-gay when compared to Seattle. I could be wrong but I hear this often.

Spokane looks like a New England mill town.

Spokane looks great in those pics! I've only been through that city once waaaay back in the late 1980s. But parts of it are still familiar to me, probably because Edmonton and northern Alberta get most US TV broadcasting (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, etc) from this city.

The climate in Spokane's a lot drier than these pics suggest, because it's in the eastern end of the semi-arid Columbia Plateau. Summer temps up to the mid to high 30s (mid to high 90s F) aren't unusual there, either, though the average daily maximum in July is really around 28°C (83°F).

The city has a population of about 200,000, with a metro population of over 450,000, and the name "Spokane" is pronounced "spo-CAN", never "spo-CAIN".

^ About that boat-shaped "white building" - I believe that's an exhibit hall and extension of the Spokane Convention Center.

I will capture other great Northwest cities as well.

Oh, and by the way, that is the Cities Convention Center. Just a but away is the Spokane Arena. Spokane will be the site of the 2010 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
