Great photos. I grew up in Little Havana in an apartment building just across the river from Downtown Miami and Over town. I now live in the suburbs which are safer and do have better schools however, I still have very good memories of my old neighborhood.
I used to know every single person who lived in my apartment building and knew all the people from the small grocery stores/video stores that were near my home. You could walk to get almost everything you wanted. A bigger super market was a few blocks away. Downtown and the main library were perhaps a 30 minute walk away (perhaps less). I really hope Little Havana gets a bit more gentrification. Not so much that the whole place is totally changed (the area I used to live has been like 30% torn down for new buildings) but just enough for new richer, different (yes I mean white, heck even Asians just not pure Hispanics) people, to get more money into the place. More diversity is always good. I see just so much potential in that area. And calle ocho as great as it is now, can still be dramatically improved.

Little Haiti is a great cultural experience but needs some clean up, not so much that it wont be some sort of Haiti
but trees, new sidewalks and more cultural establishments, a theatre or bigger museum. Little Havana looks great, something about that place just gets me (in a good way). The food, people and vibe is great and the historic neighborhoods around it are intresting too. I would check out Sunny Isles to see the apparent Russians businesses and establishments North Miami Beach at 163rd St and the street full of asian businesses. Any else? |

LOVE those photos, kevin!
Great to see the pic of Churchill's in Little Haiti. Can't begin to tell you how many shows I played there (seriously...at least 80) back in my punk days. Dave Daniels still has the place going strong after all these years. I'd love to see more threads like this. No, it may not be the "glitzy" Miami but most of Miami is NOT all that glamorous. It's a relatively poor city with plenty of warts but INTERESTING as hell. The skyline shots are gorgeous but photos like these really show how a ton of folks in Miami actually live. Very refreshing and great work!

We had Kate Moss come in the place I co-manage the other day here in Philly...she's dating a guy whose band played there (the Kills). Anyway, she IS gorgeous and you can definitely see why she's a supermodel but she obviously still has her "problems." Won't go into details but let's just say she spent a lot of time in the restroom.
Anyway, enough digression. More pics of neighborhhods, please. This could turn into a great thread! |

rest stop
Hmmm which kind of problem would a super model have in a restroom.
The kind that sounds like sniffing or the kind that sounds like hurling? |

Well...she had a case of the sniffles. Must have been a cold or something like that.

I should know better than to question Anna Kournikova, but... isn't Little Moscow the same as Sunny Isles? And if so, Lincoln Rd. doesn't go through Little Moscow, or does it?
Or by Little Moscow are we referring to Anna Kournikova? |

It's a little known fact that not only does Lincoln Road go to Sunny Isles, but it also runs up the Eastern Seaboard all the way to Newfoundland where it submerges itself into the sea and reappears on the Portuguese coast. After a quick jog through northern Italy (Lincoln Road loves good food) it heads east into the Ural mountains before ending at a yak market in Uzbekistan.
