Off-topic: Dubai before the global financial crisis was what happens when a real estate market gets out of control - every crap gets built. Since they started recovering from the crisis in recent years, quantity is lower but quality is higher, a lot of the towers being built right now or soon are significantly better than the supertall headaches churned out before the crisis, and hopefully will outnumber and overshadow those past sins one day. At least two or three dozen recladdings couldn't hurt, either, of course.

They may have a couple of buildings currently under construction that have slightly improved designs, but they still are low quality. Dubai is where good architecture goes to die.

I like how NY is regaining its own style and how it's kinda gonna look like those old pictures of the early 1900s with all those big classical building that you could only find in NYC. I still like some glass boxes like the Hudson Yards or the WTC, but having this kind of buildings, and knowing architects are finally putting some effort on the facades feels so good.

Love Retro Futurism. Hopefully this is a growing trend in the future. These Neo Deco towers are different than he ones built in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. Is there also a mid century and 80s high tech influence.

Supertall 45 Broad Street Breaks Ground in New York
Quote:
Up until last month, there hadn't been a lot of news to report on the status of the proposed supertall at 45 Broad Street in Lower Manhattan. Numerous photos in our Forum chronicled the story, or lack thereof, of a site remaining idle for many months. But a joint venture comprised of Madison Equities, Chinese real estate company Gemdale, and Italian real estate firm Pizzarotti Group recently celebrated the start of the 340-metre-tall tower's construction.

Nice!

According to the DOB posted at SSP this will have a crown reaching ~1150' or 350 meters. 1115 seems to be the roof height.

I haven't heard anything about this one for a while. I just happened to walk by earlier today and decided to snap a pic. It's nothing exciting but I thought I'd share anyway.

Nice, nicer than the average NY box for sure! The facade detail is something that is missing on so many of NY's bland corporate skyscrapers.

When is this tower going up? Better rise quick. We need it to match its cousin over in Brooklyn.

The developers of this building will be paying for the installation of two new subway elevators for the Broad street J/Z station!

Hard to believe what will eventually rise on this tiny plot of the jungle!

It's a shame the lower part of the building won't get much notice unless you work nearby or view forums like this.

Oh and what the hell is going on with you standing on the ledge like that? What building would let you do such a thing?

Downtown's Next Supertall Gears Up for Construction, New Rendering Appears On-Site

Quote:
The birthplace of the New York skyscraper is set to receive its first supertall outside of the World Trade Center site. 45 Broad Street, located in the heart of the Financial District one block south of the New York Stock Exchange, will soar 1,115 feet high into the world’s most storied and romantic skyline. The 66-floor building will be stacked with approximately 200 condos and is being developed through a joint-venture between Robert Gladstone's Madison Equities and Pizzarotti IBC.

Quote:
The project markets itself as having 86 stories (Trump floors) due to lofty ceiling heights and double-height floors. Reportedly, the average asking price for its homes will be a relatively affordable $2.7 million. Common amenities will include a 60-foot indoor swimming pool, outdoor garden, library, a fitness center, and several lounges and entertainment spaces. The tower is anticipated to open in 2019, though with the foundation having yet begun, that target date sounds optimistic.
