Source is the developer himself so that seems to be true.
Another supertall for downtown!
I'm just hoping for a good design, the massing looks interesting.
Your move now Shvo

Elevator going up!

Planned 1,100-Foot, 86-Story Tower Will Rise at 45 Broad St.

Quote:
The last time we checked in with the vacant lot at 45 Broad Street, it had been sold to Robert Gladstone's Madison Equities and Italy-based Pizzarotti Group for a cool $86 million, with plans to develop a residential tower in place. 6sqft recently uncovered what appear to be preliminary renderings of the tower that will rise on the site, but Pizzarotti CEO Rance MacFarland recently confirmed more details about the building to Curbed—namely, that it will be a 1,100-foot-tall, 86-story tower, putting it among the ranks of New York City's supertalls.

As previously reported, CetraRuddy (of One Madison and Walker Tower fame) is behind the building's design, which is still being finalized. The firms expect to break ground on the project in late October or November of this year, with an anticipated completion date of 2018.

In terms of the building itself, it's expected to have 245 residences that will cater to "entry- and mid-level buyers," according to MacFarland.

That moment when they are proud to build the tallest resi tower in Downtown Manhattan because the tallest in the whole city is already too ambitious. But yeah great news.

Yes: 125 Greenwich (Shvo), 45 Broad St, 80 South St, 42 Trinity Place. It will be quite a battle for the tallest residential tower in downtown. Shvo's tower is still a mystery regarding height and final design. But at least it's U/C. 45 Broad could change too, since the developer plans to file not until this summer.
And then we have 80 South! I'm pretty pumped about the final reveal here. A SHoP designed supertall is always welcomed!

and the downtown skyline will be sorely missing a pinnacle
but I'm sure a megatall will eventually cap this skyline creating another iconic silhouette

the 1930's might just meet it's better incarnation in the 2030's

I agree, with all those supertall popping up in Downtown, 1WTC's roof height of ~1,400' is not enough to be the "undisputed" king. We need a 1,700 - 1,800 footer to the roof.

When enough views are blocked at 1,400 ft. then they have to build higher. It's basically the history of Manhattan.

Groundwork Begins at Downtown Supertall 45 Broad Street
Full article on 6sqft http://www.6sqft.com/groundwork-begi...-broad-street/

Quote:
Since the announcement, a truck mounted with drilling and soil testing equipment has moved onto the cleared lot, and a recently filed permit states some excavation work will take place for more soil samples that will verify the extent of the below-grade structures and foundations. The developers expect to officially break ground on the project this fall, with a completion date sometime in 2018.
The tower will have 245 condos

Revealed: Madison Equities’ 45 Broad Street condo tower
http://therealdeal.com/2016/02/26/re...t-condo-tower/

Quote:
Madison Equities and the Pizzarotti Group’s 1,000-foot condo tower at 45 Broad Street will be a soaring golden colossus with a slim midsection and a hulking top, according to new renderings obtained by The Real Deal.

That’s according to marketing materials, including early renderings, circulated among prospective Chinese investors, who may contribute money for the tower through the EB-5 visa program. Madison is currently aiming to raise approximately $75 million through the program to finance the project, sources said.

Prices at the building, which is still in the planning stages, will be relatively conservative compared to recent new developments, with the developers aiming for average prices below $2,000 per square foot, according to the materials. The average apartment is slated to cost less than $2 million.

By contrast, the average listing price for units at Financial District building 50 West Street, developed by Time Equities, is closer to $4 million.

Neither Madison nor Pizzarotti made themselves available for comment on the plans.
CetraRuddy is reportedly designing the project, which is expected to be completed in 2018. ...

i'll need a high-res rendering to make any judgements. I like the use of materials other than just glass on the facade. Still, that's a whacky looking massing if i've ever seen one... slanted crown, cantilever, corseted middle...

It reminds me of an update, weirder version of 100 Federal Street in Boston. It's odd, but I'll take it.

I need some high res renderings to have a better opinion. It's a bit weird, but I kinda like it, I really like the crown.
But again, I'll wait for high res renders.
