Well, they did get a whole bunch of specialists from Spain (or something) last year to determine if a metro system is possible. Maybe they decided that it is feasible?
I think they should implement a tram (or trolley) system first. |

Really? A subway in Skopje? I really don't think it's feasible. I'm not an expert or anything but when I was there, a couple of weeks ago, traffic was very low, with no traffic jams whatsoever. A subway is a pretty large investment, and if you don't have the need, you better be some oil-rich country... I think investments in improvement of the current public transport would be much more reasonable. When I was there, I was surprised by the old and low quality buses etc. A tram or a trolley bus system would also be more reasonable. Building a subway system just for the sake of having one to show off isn't worth it...

I wonder if they are allowed to dig beneath the city, in case they might uncover old buried building and stuff? Skopje is one of the oldest sites with a civilization of anywhere in Europe I believe so who knows what's buried beneath it all. |

It's real but it's bullshit.
We will see. But the actual plans are terrible. They must change them and build the underground infrastructure as is planned in the General Urban Plan of Skopje |

Japan ready to help construction of Skopje underground road PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 27 April 2011 Image Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is ready to help the construction of Skopje's underground arterial road, with its representatives to visit Macedonia in the course of the year. Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki initiated JICA's involvement in the project at the Tokyo meeting with agency's vice-president Atsuo Kuroda. Enlargement of economic cooperation, commercial exchange and attraction of Japanese investments in Macedonia will also be on the agenda of Milososki's meeting with officials of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). FM Milososki and Japanese counterpart Takeaki Matsumoto discussed Wednesday at their meeting in Tokyo over raising the level of bilateral diplomatic representation, conclusion of an agreement for technical cooperation and multilateral cooperation, as well as UN reforms and Macedonia's candidacy for membership in the Human Rights Council. FM Milososki assessed this visit is important since Macedonia enjoyed friendly relations with Japan, which could be enhanced in numerous fields. The meeting also focused on the current situation in Japan following the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami that hit the country. "We believe this is a good opportunity to demonstrate solidarity with Japan and we hope this nation will overcome these critical times", said Milososki, adding that Skopje has not forgotten Japan's aid after the 1963 earthquake. |

Very desert forum, when people ask a question they have to wait for 24 hours to get any answer.

You're probably not going to get an answer at all, lol. Even build.mk has been dead lately. Maybe people are just sick of developments in Macedonia.
