Thanks for the pictures.

I have used both BRU and CRL in the past, BRU is an excellent airport but is it still operating extremely under capacity after the loss of Sabina?

CRL looks allot different from the pictures to what I remember it being like, has CRL been developed in recent years?

BRU is indeed still underused, but it's getting better because this 'free space' attracts new airlines. Jet Airways for example has chosen BRU as its European hub with daily flights to India & North America, in close co-operation with Brussels Airlines (the successor of Sabena). Brussels Airlines is the result of the merger of SN Brussels Airlines and Virgin Express.

CRL has now a complete new terminal/airport. The old one is completely shut down.

The old one:

Thanks for the update. I flew with SNBA over a year ago, GLA-BRU-GLA.

Looking at the pictures, it was the old terminal I flew to/from at CRL. The new terminal looks nice, do you have any pictures of the inside and maybe an ariel view of CRL?

Is Brussels South Charleroi Airport the one used by the low-cost airlines such as Ryanair? If so, I heard that it is some way from Brussels itself.

Is the tie-up between Air France and KLM drawing traffic away from Brussels (International) Airport (BRU)?

So it is the one that is nearer to the Franch border than it is to Brussels.

It will be interesting to see if the High Speed Raillink will help to boost traffic at Brussels International airport.

I flew into CRL a few years ago with Ryanair and I think it was about 50minutes from the airport to the centre of Brussels.

I think Easyjet fly to Brussels National Airport (BRU), the main Brussels Airport.

Thanks for the info.

I would like to see Brussels International take off as a major hub. I think the rail link would be a help in addition to Brussels growing importance as the institutional centre of Europe. What might help is if one of the larger EU, or even perhaps American, airlines adopted it as a new main hub.

Did they renovate Charleroi? It looks so much better than when I used it in 2004!

They didn't renovate the old building, they built a new terminal on other side of the runway.

Ariel view: http://www.airliners.net/photo/-/-/0863158/L/ (taken in 2005, the new terminal is now at the back of the runway (not yet on this picture))

Looks like that 747 has flown its last flight.
