Raj, I am sure works are going on. I travelled from CBE-Kangayam in June'08 and work was going on thru out the stretch. As I said earlier the works are not at par with NS Corridor projects but the road looks wide enough as 4 lane with center median.

Works are going on means it is a 4 laning project??? Yes Works are going on for years.
While travelling you might have seen some area having medians.This made you assume that its 4 laning project.

See the Details Below for this Stretch

It is NHAI funded Project.
SRC Projects Ltd are the EPC Contractors.
Feedback Turnkey Engineers Pvt.Ltd are the Consultants.

In Rural Area Widening the width is
1.0m(Earthern Shoulder)+1.5m(Hard Shoulder)+7.0m(Carriageway)+1.5m(Hard Shoulder)+1.0m(Earthern Shoulder)

In Urban Area Wideining the width is (the area where u might have seen median)

1.5m(Earthern Shoulder)+8.75m(Carriageway+Hard Shoulder)+1.20m(Median)+8.75m(Carriageway+Hard Shoulder)+1.5m(Earthern Shoulder)

Now you decide whether this is a 4 Laning Project or not.

Centre plans ‘green corridor’ for farmers

Service road along six-lane ‘Golden Quadrilateral’ and North-South corridor identified

CHENNAI: The Centre is proposing to set up a dedicated ‘green corridor’ to enable farmers to move agricultural products smoothly from the rural areas to major towns or cities, Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways T.R. Baalu said here on Tuesday.

Delivering the presidential address at a seminar on ‘Warehousing (Development & Regulation) Act: issues and challenges,’ he said the farmers need not pay toll for using the green corridor as they had been contributing to the economic development of the country.

The service road alongside the six-lane ‘Golden Quadrilateral’ and the North-South corridor would be called the green corridor. It would not interfere with vehicles plying on the corridor and the six-lane highway.

Mr. Baalu said that in the last three or four years, the Centre was investing heavily in infrastructure to improve road, port and rail connectivity to move farm products. Under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP), seven major projects costing Rs.2,87,690 crore were taken up in different parts of the country, and all these would be completed by 2015-2016.

Did you see any boards mentioning the details of the Project while travelling through the stretch??

I have already mentioned that the works are not up to the standards of NS Corridor. Also I am not anyway related to Highways dept. I am just a civilian.

But the quality of the road is far far better than old CBE-Karur rd especially from Palladam to CBE. I think u vl agree with it.

Anyhow thx for the info and update.

Agreed.Better to mention the Riding Quality.

The total Stretch is divided into two ie; Karur-Kangeyam (Package KC-01) & Kangeyam-Coimbatore (Package KC-02).All others Remains the same Only difference is the Chainage & Cost

ok, can you tell me what is the alignment of DGL to Kumuli 4 lanning?

I esp. want to know DGL - Theni alignment.

where it starts from DGL end?

how about near vathalagundu and periyakulam?. would be any by pass on these towns?

if bypass crossing periyakulam, where exactly?.

I know DPR is still going on. but want to know these details.

Alignment of NH-47 (Kerala/TN) and NH-47B(TN)

NH-47 Alignment

Since Its the continuation stretch from Thiruvananthapuram the whole alignment is posted here.

Kazhakuttam-Chacka-Inchakkal-Kovalam-Mukkola-Puthenkada-Thirupuram-Ayira-Manjamkuzhi-Adakkakuzhi-Pirakode-Kuluvilai- Mayapuram-Tamarakulam-Kappukkadu, Mulamkuzhi-Palliyadi- Vadavila-Pukkadai-Kozhiporuvila-Paruthikattuvilai- Pandaravilai- Thackalai- Pandaravilai-Puchikad- Chungankadai- Ozhukinasseri- Karuppukottai-Therur- Manavila-Kottaram-Kanyakumari Bypass.

From Kazhakkoottam (Start of Thiruvananthapuram Bypass) to Kerala/TN Border

The alignment utilises the existing Thiruvananthapuram Bypass from Kazhakkoottam to Kovalam (22.6 Kms). The second phase of Thiruvananthapuram Bypass starts from Kovalam and passes through Mukkola-Puthenkada-Thirupuram and Ayira and joins Kerala/Tamilnadu Border at Manjamkuzhi near Karode.

From Kerala/TN Border to Kanyakumari

The alignment after crossing the Kerala border at Manjamkuzhi proceeds through areas of Adakkakuzhi, Pirakode, Kuluvilai and finally crosses Tamraparani river. The alignment passes through Mayapuram, Thamarakulam, Kappukkadu, and Mulamkuzhi villages and passes near Palliyadi and crosses Thiruvananthapuram-Kanyakumari railway line here.After that it passes through Vadavila, Pukkadai, Kozhiporuvila and Paruthikattuvilai.The alignment cuts Kozhiporuvila-Pukkadai road and Eraniel branch canal and passes through Pandaravilai village. It also cuts Thiruvankode - Milady road and Aluvarcoil – Manjanuvila road connecting existing NH-47 near Thuckalai. Then it crosses river Valliyar and passes through Pandaravilai, Puchikad and cuts Villukuri canal and joins the existing NH-47. After joining the existing NH, the alignment follows the existing NH-47 for a length of 0.81 Kms of existing NH-47. Thereafter the alignment deviates from the existing NH-47 towards left side of Chungankadai Village crosses Puthery – Vadaserry road. Further it crosses Palayar River and Teraikkalpudur road and joins NH-47B at Ozhukanassery. After it crosses Nagercoil – Tirunelveli railway line and runs through Karuppukottai, Therur villages. This portion of alignment runs north of Nagercoil and Suchindram and joins NH-47 near Manavila junction.From there it follows the existing road up to a length of 3.44km and deviates on RHS for bypassing Kottaram village and joins the proposed NH-7 Bypass for Kanyakumari immediately after Kottaram village.

NH-47B from Nagercoil to Kavalkinaru

The alignment starts at Ozhukanassery and cuts Teraikkalpudur-Thirupathisaram road and crosses Puthanar canal and crosses a small stream and cuts Veeramarthandanpuram-Sivagnanapuram.Further it crosses Thirunelveli-Nagercoil railway line and cross the Murungur -Thirumalipuram road and Thovalai channel. The alignment is bypassing Thovalai and it crosses the Thovalai railway station road.Further It crosses a raod leading to Muthunagar.It also crosses the Devasagai Malai- Arulvaimozhi road and also another road leading to MGR Nagar. It also crosses Muppandal-Kumarapuram road and joins NH-7 at Kavalkinaru.
