Some intresting 3D photos of Al-Sowwah construction sites. gives you perspective of where things are, and the view from the buildings once its finished.

p.s: I didnt need to download any software or viewer to view the 3D images, but you might need to depending on your software.

One thing i know is that this is very needed if we want Abu Dhabi to have a better financial infrastructure. This with Al Reem will bring about more economical diversifaction if its done right. But on the other hand I dont see the use of Capital City. we wouldnt really need it if downtown Abu Dhabi is completely finished.

Jonh Buck to build Al Hilal tower

Al Hilal Bank, a UAE-government owned Islamic bank, has announced the appointment of real estate services company John Buck International, to coordinate and manage the development of a 24-storey commercial tower for Al Hilal on Sowwah Island, Abu Dhabi. According to agreement, John Buck International will steer all aspects of the project through the design and construction processes. The first phase of the design process is to commence with immediate effect and the project is scheduled for completion in 2014.

For those who are interested, I believe that John Buck International is essentially the high-end real estate branch of Mubadala, one of Abu Dhabi's chief investment tools. The name is slightly misleading, in that JBI was not actually created until Mubadala approached John Buck (Chicago real estate operations firm) and enticed them to start it with a significant investment (though Mubadala of course got majority ownership of JBI out of the deal). JBI have been in charge of Sowwah square and much of the Island's development (aside from some infrastructure) from the get go.

In other news, I also heard that the piling for the Cleveland clinic is finished, have not been over to check it out yet though. Maybe someone can confirm this.
